"Argue for your limitations and sure enough they're yours." - Richard Bach Do you hear yourself saying - I want to lose weight, but...? Do you buy into these kinds of limiting beliefs? I want to lose weight, but it's too hard. I want to lose weight, but I would have to give up my favorite foods. I want to lose weight, but I can't help it - it's genetic. I want to lose weight, but, after a certain age, it's just impossible. If you want to lose weight and, at the same time, you're telling yourself why you CAN'T lose weight, it's like driving a car with the brake on. Let's shine a light on some of these weight loss myths that may be preventing you from attaining and maintaining your ideal body: Myth #1. Losing weight is hard. Losing weight is not inherently difficult. It's your belief that losing weight is hard that makes it hard. It can be as easy as you allow it to be. Ask yourself: How easy can I allow this process to be? How easy can I stand it? Myth #2. I'll be happy when I lose weight. Sorry, if you're not happy now, you won't be happy when you're thin. In fact, if you flip that around (I'll lose weight when I'm happy), you'll be closer to the truth. Myth #3. I'm a victim of my family genetics. You are not required to be overweight even if everyone in your family is. The true cause for this family trait is your thoughts rather than your genetics. You "inherited" the thoughts, beliefs, and expectations to be heavy. It's the vibes - not the genes. Myth #4. I'm overweight because I have no willpower. It has nothing to do with willpower, weakness, or character flaws. It's just that you've been thinking of yourself as heavy and feeling heavy. As you begin thinking of yourself as thin and feeling thin, you're on your way to thin. Myth #5. I'll never lose weight unless I exercise more. You can work out constantly and not lose a pound if you focus on being fat. If you think of yourself as fat and talk about being fat and feel fat, you keep the fat vibe activated and exercise will have little or no effect. Myth #6. Experts are the ultimate source of accurate information on weight loss. Nope. The ultimate authority on you and your body is YOU. Tune in to your emotional guidance system, listen to the wisdom of your body, and you'll find yourself firmly on the path to your optimum weight. Myth #7. When I eat the high calorie foods I love, I gain weight. It's not about calories, food combining or those dreaded carbs. Millions of people eat these foods and don't gain weight. If you believe certain foods will make you fat, they will. If you believe you can eat whatever you like AND be thin, you can. Myth #8. If I even look at a piece of cheesecake, I gain weight. Listen to your self-talk. Is it contributing to your goals or sabotaging your efforts? Because Energy flows where attention goes, you attract and create whatever you focus on. If you have identified some weight loss myths that are not serving you well, are you ready to release them? It's not necessary to go back and figure out where they came from. Merely decide to replace these limiting beliefs with empowering beliefs. Focus on what you want rather than what you don't want. Focus on what makes you FEEL GOOD. Start where you are and point your magnet in the direction of where you want to be. Your thoughts created the body you now have. Your thoughts can create the body you would like to have.
