A deck is a major addition to any home and like any other product, over time the deck will begin to show signs of wear and tear. No matter what condition your deck is in, this deck will be a huge focal point of your home. By taking the time and putting in the energy to protect your deck and to keep age spots away, the life of your deck will be extended and your deck will be able to be used many years in to the future. One way to extend the life of any deck is with deck refinishing. This can be a long and tough process but a refinished deck is worth the time.
Before starting any deck refinishing, it first needs to be decided if the project will be a do-it-yourself project or if professionals will be hired. There are many companies available that specialize in projects of this type. By doing a project of this type by yourself, you can save yourself a lot of money but it can be a very tough project. A deck refinishing project needs to be thought about long and hard before it is begun to make sure it is done properly and in the right way.
When a deck refinishing project is started, the first thing that is done is to clear the deck of any mold, algae and mildew. If these are not removed before starting, the mold, algae and mildew can be driven further into the wood and cause more permanent damage. There are four main parts to a refinish deck project. A deck needs to be sanded first, pressure wash the deck second, repair any damage third, and fourth is to seal the deck. The project complexity will vary depending on the condition of the deck but all decks will benefit from a deck refinishing.
A deck refinishing project is a long and drawn out project but every deck will benefit from the project. A deck is a huge part of any home and can add huge amounts of curb appeal. When a deck begins to deteriorate, the curb appeal factor of the home begins to decline. By keeping up with the deck and keeping it in the best condition possible, the life of the deck will be extended and the deck will continue to add curb appeal and monetary value to the home for many years to come.
