Carpet Replacement: Cincinnati Carpet, How to Clean and When to Replace

The lifespan of a carpet is determined by the quality of the carpet, the quality of the underlying carpet pad, the amount of wear the carpet has endured and the general maintenance of the carpet throughout its lifetime. Generally speaking, the cleaner a carpet is kept, the longer it will last. This is because dirt migrates through the layers of the carpet fibers and if it isn't removed regularly it adds an abrasive element amongst the carpet strands. The dirt then acts like sandpaper slowly wearing away the integrity of the flooring. Professional deep cleaning of carpets on a regular basis can help lift out the dirt and extend the lifespan of a carpet.

The cleaning solution used by professional carpet cleaners generally will not remove the stain guard treatment from the carpet. So how to tell when a carpet requires cleaning or needs replacement? Here are some things that a deep cleaning will not remove from a Cincinnati carpet:
• Fading. The only hope for faded carpet is replacement.
• Stretch marks. Once the underlying carpet pad reaches the end of its lifespan the top carpet will start to display stretch marks or gaps. Cleaning will not remove these and replacement is the only cure.
• Chemical discoloration. Some body treatments such as acne medication can actually dye the carpet fibers. Cleaning will not remove them.
• Burn marks.
• Traffic pattern wear marks. Deep cleaning can make these look better but it will not remove them entirely.
• Deep oily stains. Deep oily stains and bloodstains can rarely be completely removed through cleaning.
• Persistent pet or smoke odors.

In the above cases new carpet as opposed to deep cleaning is the best solution. Carpet replacement is also needed anytime a homeowner is looking for a fresh interior design for their home in Cincinnati. Carpet replacement is also a good idea if anyone in the house suffers from allergies.

Cincinnati Wood Floor: To Clean or Replace?

Cleaning and or refinishing a Cincinnati wood floor can be a complicated process. Wood floors come in many thicknesses and finishes. This is one time when it pays to consult a Cincinnati wood floor expert before proceeding. Applying the wrong types of cleaners can damage some types of wood floor finishes. Damp mopping with warm water is about the only cleaning method for a wood floor before knowing exactly what kind of finish the floor is treated with.

Replacing wood floors is expensive and time consuming and this is a job that usually requires a professional. Wood floor replacement or installation is the best solution for fixing the following flooring issues:

• Wood has deep pet urine marks or stains
• Large sections of the wood floor are failing
• There is extensive termite damage
• The homeowner is looking for a distinct look that can only be achieved through the installation of a particular type of wood flooring. For example, bamboo and cork flooring are stylistically unique.

Deep Cleaning can always precede Cincinnati flooring replacement or refinishing. However, knowing what the cleaners can and cannot fix can save some valuable time and money!
