The Government of Delhi is on the move to digitise property record across its 21 sub-registrar office to bring in more transparency and speed to the system. Residential property owners can now verify the status of their property documents and apply for copies to the sub-registrar online. The Government of Delhi is taking a way forward to bring in transparency and simplicity in to the property system in the National Capital Region. Delhi government’s revenue department has started an e-search that will reveal the status of your property transaction, along with the documents related to it, such as sale deed, lease deed and mortgage. The properties registered across the 21 sub-registrar offices in Delhi are already made available with the website. All you need to do is to log in to the e-search site and check details of your residential property in Delhi. The initiative taken is aimed at nailing down fraudulent registration of properties and preventing unauthorised tampering of records. In addition, digitisation of property details will add more transparency to the system and ensure quick access to information. To speed up the digitisation process, the government will soon start tendering out the process of uploading of legacy data so that the residents will be able to track details of old properties as well. Let us have a glance at the features of the online tracking system. • So far, a total of 33,458 khatas have been digitised in 109 rural villages. • The system will have real-time data and will have information for at least past two years. • Several records have data from as far back as 2002. • The online system will have data for all properties to which the urban property registration system applies. This includes colonies and plotted settlements as well. • Residents will be able to track the status of the records, such as sale deed, lease deed and mortgage papers etc. • Along with the 21 sub-registrar office, the government is also targeting to digitise records of north district. • Common man will be benefitted from this system, who will not need to run to the sub-registrar office to verify the registration status of a potential property purchase. • Residents can also apply to the sub-registrar for copies after verifying the status of their property documents. According to an official source, “Once you have the registration number, you can check the status online. Even if the registration number is unavailable, a search option allows anyone access to information on registrations carried out at a particular sub-registrar office in a specific area in a particular year.” http://www.multiflats.com/search/new-delhi/property-for-sale
