Design Ideas for Landscaping Lighting

One way to make your home look warm and inviting is to use landscape lighting. It is a job that you can do but if you do not have the time or just not sure how to do it you can have an electrician do the work for you. They will come out, go over where you want the light to go and what type of lights you will need. Then you can have fun getting the lights that were suggested or allow them to do it. You can also have a plan in mind along with the lights before you hire an electrician to do the work. There are many different ideas and ways that you can make your landscaping stand out.

Pathway lighting is a great way for you and your guests to walk through your landscape or to get to your outdoor patio or sitting area. It will also help to ensure that no one trips when coming to your front door or walking through the backyard. One type of lights for pathway lighting is to use LED lights. One design would be to use small LED lights on both sides of the walkway or you can use the larger ones at greater distances such as going along the sides of your driveway or pathway. It is advisable not to use colored bulbs for lighting the pathway except for the regular yellow LED lights.

When looking at your landscaped backyard decide just what you want to highlight. It could be a small garden area with various colors of flowers along with a small waterfall statue or it could be several areas. Rock gardens are something else you could accentuate with lights. There are also point lightings, which is using different kinds of LED lights at different points within your landscape. Some of the points that you could use include two at the mid-point of the walkway, pairs of lamp posts at random point around your lawn, two at the end of the walkway leading up to your home, or using single lampposts around your home at regular intervals making sure that you avoid any doors and windows.

You can also use stairway lighting such as small simple LED lights to light up any stairways leading to your home or out into the backyard. This will also ensure that your guests or you do not fall down the stairs. If you have a pool, you can use small flood light or spotlights to accentuate the pool.
