Designing a Great Logo
It is one of the most important mental images in people’s minds, something they can identify with. It is the synonym for your activity or product, something you can display on your correspondence, your vehicles and your product. If you look at some of the most successful brand names out there, they are all accompanied by a catchy, identifiable logo. When you see a MacDonald’s, Adidas, or Nike logo, you immediately know who they are and what they do, so in short, your logo design tells your entire story in a small work of art.
Your logo design needs to stand out from the opposition and the millions of other logos out there, so it is very important to consider very carefully how you want to lay out your image. Make as many as 20 sketches to play around with, even if you start with pen and paper, bearing in mind what it is that your brand or company does and what you want to display. For instance, it does not make sense to design a logo with wings when your product is fertilizer. Take your time with your logo design; it is very important to create different versions to gauge the effect that the final product will have.
The size of your logo is very important. For example, you might want to reduce it to put it on correspondence – it loses its effect if it loses its definition. At the same time, you might want to enlarge it, put it on posters or billboards. So essentially, it will need to keep its definition on all applications. Normally it is hardest to get the small logos exactly right so bear that in mind when you have your logo designed. Using the correct colours for your logo needs to be considered. Don’t use too bright colours that are glaring and hard on the eyes.
You need to be aware of the balance of the logo. It is natural for people to find a balanced design pleasing, so keep the weight of the graphics, colours and size equal on each side. Another very important aspect of your logo design is the typography, especially if you have text in your logo or in the tag line. It has to be legible for everyone and remember that you might want to reduce or enlarge the logo on different applications, so the right font is extremely important and it might take many attempts to get this spot on. Avoid using the most common fonts to avoid seeming amateurish.
The goal of your logo is recognition. When people see your logo, the idea is that they immediately identify it with your product. By taking the discussed points into account, you have a basic idea what to look for when you have your logo designed.
There are of course many companies who offer logo services but it is your basic idea and a little knowledge of the visual effect you wish to create, which will get them started on the right track. Most logo services companies have their portfolios on the internet, so you will be able to see their work before hand and decide whether a particular company operates and designs in the manner and style that you like. It is essential for you to have a pretty good idea what you want your logo to-do for you. For more information visit http://domaingroup.ca/logo-design/
