India’s first smart city is under development. A city that shall have everything that a common Indian can think of. Things that a common man struggles for each day and yet cannot get it. 24*7 drinking water supply, excellent sewage systems, non-stop electricity in every home, affordable housing, internet connectivity, parks and green space, no pollution, no dust, an environment which creates superior quality of life!

Smart city Dholera is the first and the best planned smart city of India developing at a rapid pace that none can match.

With an enormous size that shall be twice as much as Mumbai and six times that of Shanghai, Dholera shall encompass an area of 920 square kilometers. The idea is to create a city that falls under the ‘influence zone’ of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor and connects the two capitals of India seamlessly; the financial capital, Mumbai to the national capital, Delhi.

The city shall be the first solution that Indian government has planned for the rising problem of urbanization. Urbanization is growing at a rapid pace and containing it through development of 100 smart cities has become essential for India. As per economists about 590 million people shall reside in cities by 2026. The urban population of India is expected to rise to 36% in 2026 from 28% in 2001. Construction and development of about 20-30 new cities shall be imperative within the next decade to contain such rising numbers as per a report from McKinsey.

The future of Smart city Dholera shall deploy Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in all facets of its development. This shall be used to improve the city’s performance and efficiency and also reduce overall cost of public amenities. ICT shall capture live data and send it to a centralized control room though underground sensory system. The centralized control room shall then take real time decisions based on such data and make necessary changes and shifts wherever required.

The city shall also have excellent healthcare facilities, quality education for its residents and lower carbon emissions leading to a healthy environment .Many other features that improve the life of those living in it shall also be a part of Dholera SIR.

It is being developed as a global manufacturing hub that is expected to attract huge investments from all over the world. Companies are looking with much interest in the region and many of them have expressed desire to set up big manufacturing and industrial units in the region. The city shall also foster the “Make in India” vision of Modi through such units.
