Acidity can be referred to as secretion of gastric juice formed by the stomach lining. This gastric juice contains hydrochloric acid, potassium chloride, and sodium chloride. This acid helps in the digestion of protein. A human stomach can secrete up to 1.5 liters of gastric juice every day. When there is excessive secretion of gastric juice, it leads to bloating, stomach ache, nausea and bad breath which is called acidity in common terms. It is a very common problem which affects almost everyone; severity may differ.
People who suffer from this problem very frequently, almost every day, then they are suffering from ‘acid stomach.' Acidity mainly occurs due to lifestyle problems like too much of consumption of junk food, irregular eating habits or starvation for a long period, lack of proper sleep, too much of stress or too much of consumption of alcohol. There are some easy and natural remedies available for treating such problem that is listed below.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Water can neutralize and flush out the excess acid secreted. Consumption of excess water can give you relief from the symptoms of such problem. It always helps when the water is a bit warm. People who suffer from chronic acidity can have a glass of lukewarm water every day before going to sleep and after waking up. Avoid drinking water immediately after a meal.
Basil Leaves
Basil leaves have excellent soothing properties that help in acidity treatment. While you are bloated and feeling nauseated try eating quite a few basil leaves by chewing them properly. You are sure to get instant relief. It works better than any over-the-counter medicine for acidity. If you are not liking the taste and don’t want to chew it, then you can always boil three to five basil leaves in water and sip it slowly.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is always a good ingredient for digestion. Cinnamon is called the ‘natural antacid.' For making the magic mixture, crush and ground the cinnamon into powder and boil the powder with a cup of water. Keep the mixture aside for two to three minutes and drink it. You will get relief from this problem instantly, and this natural medicine doesn’t have any side effects.
Buttermilk
Buttermilk, when mixed with fenugreek seeds, can bust the symptoms of acidity. Crush 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds with a little water to make a paste. Add this paste to a glass of plain buttermilk and drink it. This drink will soothe your stomach instantly, and you will feel the sense of relief. Consumption of plain buttermilk several times in a day can keep you away from such problems. Buttermilk contains lactic acid that neutralizes the gastric acid formed in thestomach.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar contains alkalizing effect which can soothe away the symptoms and helps in acidity treatment instantly. Mix 1 to 2 teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar with some water and drink it twice daily to see the difference.
Cloves
Cloves and cardamom, when mixed, can act as amagic ingredient to solving acidity problem. Crush both of them in powder and mix them together in equal amounts. Cloves increase hydrochloric acid in the stomach that neutralizes gastric acid secreted. Chewing 2 to 3 cloves thoroughly can also help.
Cumin Seeds
Cumin seeds act like acid pacifiers in the stomach. Take a handful of cumin seeds, roast them dry in flame and then keep them aside to cool. After it has cooled down crush them into a fine mixture. This crushed powder can be mixed with water and consume the water after every meal to keep away from this problem.
