Dear DC Ranch Golfers, I’ve had a number of conversations with Members of our Scottsdale Country Club regarding DC Ranch hosting member sponsored corporate Scottsdale golf club outings or charity events, and the response to both would be…yes, we would. At the appropriate time of year on Mondays, provided all the parameters of our sponsored event procedures and policies are met, we would be glad to consider hosting a golf event for a member at the Scottsdale Country Club. Should you have an interest in having your corporate or charity event at the Scottsdale Golf Club, please don’thesitate to contact me. rnJunior Golf: The six week Summer Camp here at the Scottsdale Country Club has been very popular with Junior Golfers as we have averaged around forty (40) participants per session. We plan on continuing Junior Golf year round and, in the fall, unveil a Junior Golf development program here at our Scottsdale Golf Club. The development program will be inclusive of traditional golf instruction, but also golf specific physical fitness training, as well as the mental and emotional aspects of golf training. We will keep you informed as we continue to endorse our golf instruction program for all level of players here at the Scottsdale Country Club. Danny Edwards, our Director of Instruction, and I believe our combined extensive background in working with all skill levels of golfers ‐ from beginners to tour players, both men and women alike ‐ offers a unique opportunity to Members ofrnthe Scottsdale Golf Club for a high quality and diverse approach to golf instruction. rnWe also believe there are four (4) critical components for every golfer in assessing their golf game; the physical side of full swing and short game, the mental side of proper decision making on the course, the emotional side of handling the good and bad of the game, and lastly, the value of experience playing the game. Our goal is to get each golfer we work with a clear understanding of where they are in all phases. Proper and specific golf information will be a priority for the instruction team moving forward. From time to time we will be hosting specific industry experts at the Scottsdale Country Club to share their research with our members. We will keep you informed when they are scheduled to come to the Scottsdale Golf Club. rnSpeaking of Danny Edwards, it is an added bonus when your teacher and coach have the playing credibility to go along with their knowledge of the full swing and short game. In recent weeks, Danny put his game back in a competitive mode with successful ratings as the low professional in the Denise Martinez Pro Am in Flagstaff and the only one to break par in very windy conditions. This win gave Danny the positives he needed heading into the Arizona Senior Open that same week where, in fact, he finished 7th in the field of 156 professionals and amateurs. This consistently good play should jumpstart some continued good results for his summer tournament schedule. rnWe hope our members of our Scottsdale Golf Club take advantage of Danny’s 35 years of playing expertise and quality instruction to help you be the best golfer possible. He certainly is a valuable asset to our Scottsdale Country Club instruction team and makes the game fun. We believe our instruction team and programming will be second to none and encourage all members to participate. Also on the tournament front, DC Ranch hosts two prestigious events this summer with the first on July 18th and 19th, the Arizona Junior Match Play Championship, followed by the Men’s Arizona State Amateur Tournament on August 1st through the 6th. Both events feature the best boys, girls and amateur men in the state. rnThe course will be closed for member play on Monday and Tuesday, August 1st and 2nd only. Last but not least, we have recently added a launch monitor to our golf operations inventory. This particular piece of equipment will assist us in fitting all golfers for their clubs. The launch monitor measures ball spin, club speed, trajectory, roll and more. To get your clubs dialed in for your game, please contact the Golf Shop for a club fitting appointment! Dick Hyland, Dir. of GolfrnCongratulations to Linda Fletcher a member of our Scottsdale Golf Club, for making an ACE on the 3rd hole Friday, June 3, 2011. Using a perfectly struck 7 iron from 123 yards, the ball landed past the hole and spun back in as if it were on a string. Witnessing this exceptional shot were Cyndy Kapci, Lana Noonan and Tina Kramer. If you see Linda around the Club, please congratulate her on her accomplishment.rnGreat Shot!
