If you are suffering from chronic heartbu
or acid reflux, you would highly benefit from having a special diet for acid reflux prevention. It is basic knowledge for every person who has this condition that diet is an important factor that needs to be given special attention for effective treatment and prevention. There are certain food groups and beverages that should be avoided. However, there are also a lot of food groups which are considered safe for you.
Meal planning is important as well as keeping a journal of what is safe and what is not. Moderation also plays a vital role in the diet since there are some foods which can still be included in the diet even though they had been found to be trigger factors. What is important is to practice discipline in eating, making the right food choices as often as possible and observing moderation with certain kinds of foods.
Citrus fruit juices and other fruits that contain a lot of acid should be avoided by acid reflux sufferers. However, there is always a way to compensate for this since there are some fruits and alte
atives which had been found to have very little potential to cause heartburn. These fruits are fresh apple and banana, dried apple and apple juice.
These can be included in the diet for acid reflux patients. Suggested vegetables which are also considered safe are carrots, green beans, cabbage, peas, broccoli and baked potato. There are a lot of delicious vegetable recipes available online which are safe for people with acid reflux. Moreover, these are also healthy food choices that can help in aiding good digestion.
Diet for acid reflux patients should be tasty, healthy and flavourful. Just because there are certain foods that must be avoided, this does not mean that you have to settle for bland and boring foods. There are actually a lot of good choices that you can consider as long as you know how to modify the recipes and create better alte
atives.
For instance, instead of frying your fish, you can steam it; instead of deep frying the chicken breast, you can turbo broil it; go for hard-boiled eggs over fried eggs; eat baked potatoes instead of the usual French fries – there are many other choices that you can consider as long as you know how to modify and create tasty meals without having to use ingredients that trigger acid reflux like too much spices, heavy creams, mayonnaise, butter and creamy sauces.
Even if you are suffering from acid reflux, you can still get your dose of dairy products. Make sure that you take them moderately just to be on the safe side. Your diet for acid reflux may include feta or goat cheese, fat-free cream cheese and low-fat soy cheese. Fat-free sour cream can also be taken as an alte

Also, diet for acid reflux will not be complete without adequate amounts of water. Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day to aid healthy digestion and flush away the toxins.
