Introduction

A neurological disorder causes temporary weakness or paralysis of the face muscles called as Bell’s palsy .It occurs when nerve controls the facial muscles is inflamed or compressed.This disorder is also associated with influenza,high blood pressure,diabetes,tumors, headache,and middle ear infection.To maintain a Healthy and balanced Diet is beneficial in this condition.Avoid eating hard food and take softly blended and fully liquid diet.For repair of the damaged nerve eat food rich in vitami B12,vitami B6,zinc.Trans fat cause inflammation of the nerves so avoid food that are rich in trans fats .

DIET CHART FOR BELL’S PALSY

  • Early-Mo ing -1 glass of water+ 1 tsp flax seed
  • Breakfast – Veg Oats/ Veg Poha / Chapatti with vegetable / Veg Dalia/ Veg suji Chilla/ Veg idli / Suji kheer/Veg Upma/ Veg Sewian+1 cup of tea/Milk
  • Mid-mo ing- Fruits/ Lassi/Coconut water (fresh)
  • Lunch- Veg Khichdi/ Veg Dalia/2Chapatti /1 bowl of boiled rice+1 bowl of vegetable+1 cup of dal/curd>
  • Evening- Roasted chane / Rice flakes / homemade soup / Vermicelli / Poha / Herbal tea
  • Dinner-Veg khichri/ Veg Dalia/2 Chapatti /1 cup of boiled rice+1 bowl of vegetable+1 bowl of dal

  • Whole grains, Brown Rice, Oats, Millets, Ragi, Quino

CERALS To be avoided

  • Whole refined grains and flour, White bread

PULSES To be consumed

  • Yellow lentil, Pink lentil, green gram (moong dal), soyabean

PULSES To be avoided

  • Black gram, kidney beans, white split gram

FRUITS To be consumed

  • Banana, Apple,Avocado,Pineapple,Pears,Plums,Guava, Dates,Pomegranate,papaya, kiwi

FRUITS TO be avoided

  • Oranges,Frozen or canned fruits

VEGETABLES To be consumed

  • Spinach, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Green beans, Asparagus, Potato, Carrot, Radish, Cabbage, Turnip, Capsicum, Beetroot, Ridge gourd, Bitter gourd, Bottle gourd.

VEGETABLES To be avoided

  • Tomato, Eggplant, Okra, Yam, Frozen vegetables

SPICES To be Consumed

  • Turmeric, Ginger, Fenugreek, Celery, Garlic, Cumin, Coriander, carom seeds

  • Excessive salt, red chilies

DAIRY PRODUCTS To be consumed

  • Skimmed milk, Yoghurt, Cottage cheese, Buttermilk

  • Whole milk and cream, full fat yoghurt, Cheese, Cream cheese, Condensed milk

  • Lean Meat (grilled or roasted), Shellfish, and Chicken.

  • Almonds, Figs, Raisins (soaked), Flax seeds

  • All processed and bakery products, Deep fried food, Spicy food, Mayonnaise, Cream soups and Pickles

IMPORTANT TIPS

  • Skipping meals should be avoided, especially the breakfast
  • Intake of 5-6 soaked almond per day
  • Water intake should be managed, at least 8-9 glasses regularly
  • Whole fruit should be preferred to fruit juices
