For some people when they visit their physician and he says that they need to have a diet plan, one of the first things that go through their mind is “There goes all my favorite foods” but that is not always the case. Diet plans do not always mean that you are put on them to lose weight. It could mean that you have a specific intolerance or allergy to a certain food or foods, or you could have a certain health disorder or risk. The problem with choosing a diet plan is that there are many different perspectives on what is healthy and what is not. For example, one famous diet plan was the French diet. This diet plan included many foods that most would consider unhealthy but it was popular with those that emphasized small portions, slow meals, and walking. On average the end result was being thinner. With any diet plans it is also important to consider not only the foods but also the lifestyle and activities included in the diet plan. Diet plans sometimes is referred to as an eating plan. It is “a regulated eating strategy that is used by people who need special dietary restrictions” for a variety of reasons. Many times these dietary restrictions become necessary for weight loss. When a person is on a special diet plan the plan will allow them to get their daily nutritional needs without eating foods that are not needed. Diet plans can also help to isolate the problem areas for a person based on the physical results they have from that particular diet. When diet plans are chosen remember not all diets will work for everyone. Diet plans are effective only when they are followed precisely. A common reason for having such a plan generally will involve changes in a person’s body fat or for weight loss. There are a lot of these diet plans but some of them are healthy. One example is a “drinking lemonade only” diet plan. Yes, following this diet plan can help you lose weight but it is not a diet plan that will meet your body’s nutritional needs in the long run. A special planned diet plan designed with low calories and balanced nutrition is a diet plan that is sustainable because it can change with your needs over time. Other diet plans can target specific intolerance or allergies such as being lactose intolerant, not having the ability to eat meat or being gluten intolerant. Diet plans are also used for those that have diabetes, stomach illnesses, or high cholesterol.
