Most of the people believe that dieting is the best way to shed the weight. But they are not aware of the fact that dieting is not considered to be a long term solution in terms of the weight loss. The results obtained from dieting are only for a short period of time and once the person left the dieting part he again come back to his original state. To emphasize more on this, let’s take an example.

Consider a person who has got a body weight of 225 pounds and the percentage of the fat in his body is 25%. Now this person has decided to lose 25 pounds of weight with the help of intense dieting in a period of 6 months. The fat content in his body is 23%, while the weight of the fats in his body is 56 pounds. Now when this person goes on dieting, he would surely lose 6 pounds in the first week. But later these stats decreases to 5 and then 3 pounds. Ultimately the person will be able to lose 23 pounds of weight in 6 months.

Now according to most of the people losing 23 pounds in 6 months is a big thing. But if a take a closer look at this aspect this we will find that dieting doesn’t make too much difference. Now let us focus on the stats of the person after his diet. Now the present weight of the person is 202 pounds with 21% of body fat in it. This means his body has 42 pounds of fat weight and the lean body weight is 160 pounds.

With these stats, it is totally clear that dieter has not succeeded in much effective way. The reason behind this is that he has only lost 14 pounds from his fat weight. In fact the person has lost his lean body weight which simply means that at the end of dieting the person has slower his metabolism. And as a result his body will burn fewer amounts of calories. Since it is impossible to live on fewer amount of calories of six months, this person again come back to his original diet and now the problem is even bigger.

Now the weight of the person is 225 pounds but this time the fat percentage has increased to 28% which means the total fat weight in his body is 63 pounds which more than the previous fat weight. That is why dieting is not considered to be a good option.
