Cancers don't just happen. Cancers develop if you follow an unhealthy diet full of cancer causing food over a long period of time. Some of the food we eat have large amounts of cancer promoters (carcinogens) that cause cancers. In this article, we will discover the 3 common types of carcinogens most people are exposed to on a daily basis, what types of food we should and should not consume to prevent cancer.nnAcrylamide and Food: What It Means For YounnAcrylamide has been used in industrial processes like the manufacturing of food packaging, treatment of contaminated water and creation of plastic for a long time. Experts recently found traces of acrylamide in food that was cooked with high temperature cooking methods such as baking, microwaving, roasting and frying. Although acrylamide has been proven to cause cancer in animals, experts have not found conclusive evidence that is causes cancer in humans even though it is toxic to our bodies. French fries top the charts of food that contain the highest levels of acrylamide, followed by certain brands of potato chips, breakfast cereals, cookies, brewed coffee and toast bread according to the US FDA/CFSAN 2006 Exposure Assessment for Acrylamide.nnThe Harmful Effects Of Sodium NitratennSodium nitrate is a common preservative found in processed meat. When added to meat, it preserves the redness of the meat to make it look more mouthwatering at the expense of your health. During the digestion process of sodium nitrate, nitrosamine is created and this is what promotes the development of cancer cells. Almost all forms of processed meat like pepperoni, bologna, bacon, luncheon meat, ham and sausages contain sodium nitrate.nnTrans Fat: The Worst Fat In The WorldnnTrans fat or trans-fatty acids (TFAs) are the worst kind of fat you can eat. Trans fat is created by a hydrogenation process that transforms unsaturated vegetable oils to a semi-solid state. Food companies do this to save money, to extend the shelf life of their products and to improve flavor stability. Due to it's processed nature, it is considered unnatural in our bodies and it is very tough to digest, therefore it easily sticks to our arteries if we don't exercise often. Furthermore, trans fat tends to increase the levels of bad cholesterol and reduce the good cholesterol in our bodies, creating a greater risk of getting heart disease. Trans fat can be found in partially hydrogenated oils, commercially deep-fried food, hydrogenated oils, food with vegetable shortening and pastries.nnFoods That Will Help You Lay Off CancernnIf we eliminate or severely restrict our of the 3 carcinogens above and other unhealthy substances like cigarettes, sugar, salt and alcohol, we should be able to avoid cancer and a whole lot of other major diseases. However, it is extremely difficult for most people as some of them are very yummy. You have to make the decision of enjoying good food or having a healthy body, but you can't have both all the time. At the very least, choose natural food like organic vegetables, fruit and meat as much as possible. Having a diet made of nutrients, antioxidants and fiber from raw vegetables and fruit should help you steer clear from cancer. As a general rule, eat what nature intended us to eat and avoid man-made food.
