It is explicable that with the very thoughts of rain and floods can spoil your holiday plans in India, but in reality you do not have to keep away from traveling to India during the monsoon season for there are some of the best tourist destinations where you can enjoy. Leh & Ladakh, Valley of Flowers, Ranikhet and Shillong are some of the most popular monsoon destination in India. June to September are the best monsoon season in India. Although most of India receives rain during these months there are few remote destinations in India where you can travel even during monsoons. The following are some of the best monsoon travel destinations in India: Leh & Ladakh Leh and Ladakh located in the Indus Valley, in the far corner of northern India at an altitude of some 3505 meters above sea level, these destinations are some of the most beautiful places in India. When you visit this area you will find that is bounded by two of the world's largest ranges of mountains namely Kunlun Mountain range in the north and the main Great Himalayas and is bounded by alpine forest. Some of the most ancient and historic Buddhist monasteries are also present here as the Shanti Stupa. Also visit the ancient 800 Kali Mandir, which houses a fascinating collection of masks. You can stop on your way to spin a huge prayer wheel. The Leh Palace, which was built in traditional Tibetan style, offers a great view of the city, so be sure to visit this place. Also take a trip to Thiksey Monastery to see stunning sunset views. The best time to visit Leh and Ladakh is between the months of May and September. The climate is warm during this time, as these places do not experience rain as in other parts of India. The Valley of flowers National Park The stunning landscape of the Valley of Flowers is tucked in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand comes alive during the monsoon season. This majestic and charming picturesque Himalayan valley has around 300 different varieties of alpine flowers that appear to you like a carpet of bright colors against the backdrop of the snow capped mountain. The best time to visit here i.e. Valley of Flower is from the months of July to August as during this time the flowers are in full bloom after the first monsoon showers. Avoid traveling to this place before July, as you will not find flowers flourished during this time. Ranikhet Located at the height of 6,000 meters above sea level, amidst the Kumaon hills with charm, this picturesque little town has always had its old world charm. This region offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. You will be offered the opportunity to enjoy brilliant walks among cedars and pines. Shillong Popularly known as the "Scotland of the East ', Shillong is an installation evoking a unique natural beauty. Located in undulating pine covered hills, Shillong enjoys milder weather conditions throughout the year. During the monsoons, wind whispers through luxurious forests here and the land of music is rhythmic and lively. Waterfalls cascade blue and completely captivate your senses. Because of all these reasons Shillong is a famous destination in India Monsoon. So these are some of the well known destinations in India which can be visited during the monsoon season.
