If you ask most people what they believe to be the lasting solution for a lost set of teeth or decayed teeth, they will tell you that replacement with artificial teeth is the solution. The truth is that things are not as simple as they sound; the original root that is in your jawbone will almost always begin to shrink to such an extent that it eventually dissolves. Most people will therefore not want to imagine what will happen next as it emerges that the root is missing and how it will be possible to have an artificial jawbone; this is the kind of situation that informs the decision to install dental implants which are basically artificial roots for the teeth. There are different kinds of dental implants depending on where they will be placed. Endosteal implants: For these dental implants your Staten island dental implants will use cylinders, blades or crews that are made from ceramic or titanium to replace the tooth roots. The dental implants are drilled surgically into your jawbone so that they will be able to hold the artificial teeth securely in place. The Endosteal dental implants will remain completely hidden under the gums and inside the jawbone; you will need two surgeries so as to connect the teeth to the dental implant. Also referred to as plate form implants, Endosteal implants are recommended for people whose jawbones are short or where they are not thick enough for the drilling of cylinders. Sub periosteal implants: Unlike the Endosteal dental implants, the sub periosteal implants are not inserted inside the jawbone; the metallic framework is secured firmly on your jawbone but it will be in line with the gum line. There will be metal posts that will appear to project outwards above the gum line but it will be through the metal frame. The sub periosteal dental implants are recommended is a situation where the jawbone is not wide enough to accommodate the Endosteal dental implants. The only downside of these types of dental implants is that they are not very cheap since they have to be customized with regards to the size of the jawbone. Transosteal implants: The Transosteal dental implants are such that they can only get fitted to the lower jawbone; they are usually not highly recommended since they involve a complicated and extensive surgical procedure. The said procedure has to do with attaching a metallic plate at the bottom jawbone using screws that have to run through the jawbone with posts that will be embedded within the gum tissue. Mini dental implants (MDI): These Staten island cosmetic dentist are recommended for people who have issues with their bones and their jawbone structure isn’t big enough to accommodate the regular sized implants.
