Though Taj Mahal tour is one of the most sought after tours in the Indian context, the recent news, jolting the Indian touring circles, of Taj Mahal collapsing within the next five years has raised considerable conce
s. Let us try to find out that how far it is real or it is purely a figment of imagination.
Taking into consideration some local leaders and green activists we find that their opinion is that Taj Mahal is not sufficiently stable to hold for next few years. This is largely due to its weak foundation. They are of the opinion that Taj Mahal must be enabled to bear a strong foundation in order to sustain itself for long. They think that since the foundation has weakened to a considerable extent, it might damage the health of Taj Mahal inadvertently.
As we know that the great Taj Mahal is one of the most important monuments in the Indian context, it is obvious that it is bound to raise conce
s among all the frate
ities. As this great monument dates back to 358 years to its origin, it still attracts nearly four million visitors round the year thus making it one of the most substantial monuments of our times.
Symbol of love and peace, it is indeed one of the most powerful symbols in the world attracting millions of admirers from all over the world. As it is built in the memory of his beloved wife, Shah Jahan is the one who got this great monument erected investing more than 20 years with thousands of workers.
As we understand the audacity of the quoting campaigners and local leaders, we find that the foundations have become brittle and are consequently disintegrating. If we believe on these people we find that cracks have emerged since last year in parts of the tomb and that is what makes it weak and susceptible to fall within another few years time. In fact, many have been found speaking in favor of protecting the great Taj Mahal in time, “If the crisis is not tackled on a war-footing, the Taj Mahal will cave in between two and five years,” says Ramshankar Katheria.
The major conce
remains the depleting water levels in the river Yamuna and consequently weakening the foundation of the monument. As we ponder over the minarets, it seems that they may dismantle in a few years time. Moreover, as the doors of the foundation were closed for over three decades, it is difficult to recognize the amount of damage being done to the foundation. As the river is a constituent of its architectural design, it has brought maximum damage.
Whatever the nature of discussions we find that Taj Mahal is undergoing a massive transformation and is under constant debate as far as its collapsing is conce
ed. Following the reclamation of the Yamuna, it is feared that the tensile strength of the planks is bound to result in weakening of the entire structure.
It will not be an exaggeration to state that those who have not yet embarked on Taj Mahal tour must have been feeling massively insecure. Indeed the threat is real in a sense that measures are needed to be taken in time.
