You have trouble falling asleep at night and can't seem to rest comfortably. You wake up one or more times and when the alarm clock rings you use all your self-control to NOT throw the clock across the room.
I would guess that most people have this difficulty because of our hectic schedules. There are some simple things to implement that will help you fall asleep faster and when you wake there are ways to increase your energy for the day.
If you don't have a sleep habit then develop one. It's really simple. Find a schedule that works for you. Have a specific time you go to sleep and a specific time to wake up. Do this even on your day's off if possible. Your body needs a schedule it can depend on. Don't worry if you slip up now and then, that is going to happen.
Reduce caffeine intake several hours before bedtime. That's really a no brainer. The caffeine will disrupt your sleep schedule and cause you to wake in the night.
Sleep in absolute darkness, or as close to it as possible. No night lights. Keep a little flashlight by the bed if you do have to get up in the middle of the night. Even the little light on the computer is too much light. Put your electronics (cell phone, IPad, laptop, etc. out of reach. Light disrupts your internal sleep cycle.
When you wake-up drink a glass of room temperature water immediately. During sleep you become dehydrated and dehydration causes you to be sluggish.
Eat breakfast! It really is the most important meal of the day. A light breakfast of a protein and a carbohydrate stabilizes your blood sugar. If it is not stable then you are tired and can't think clearly.
Melatonin is something in your system that causes you to be sleepy. When you wake up go outside to eat or drink your coffee. 15-30 minutes of sunlight will reduce the melatonin level so that you are more awake.
Stretching will help wake up and nourish your energy centers (Chakras) and sends much needed nourishment to your internal organs. That in turns wakes you up!
If you want to have a good nights sleep and wake up to a more productive day then implement these simple things daily.
