The problem with shyness is it feels like you’ll never overcome it. It takes a grip over you as soon you have to meet people or introduce yourself to someone. And it grips you until the very end of the interaction. To many of us with shyness it feels like an enormous wall that blocks us from meeting and attracting the type of friends we want in our life. When you begin to understand your own shyness, where it comes from and how to deal with it the right way you can start to overcome it and begin having the social lifestyle you always dream about. Shyness is an inte al state. It’s inside of us. That means you have to accept it as your responsibility. Shyness comes from not knowing what to do in a social situation. Not knowing what to talk about so others find you interesting. Not knowing how to respond to others when they make a certain comment about you. Or not knowing how to introduce yourself to someone. These aren’t things someone will normally teach you. In fact, it’s expected that a child growing up learns these things on their own. And if they don’t then “oh well”. That’s the general attitude you sometimes see out there. The thing about shyness is once you have an enormous amount of it you can’t easily learn social skills just by going out in social environments. Your shyness not only holds you back but it also keeps others away from you. It’s an endless spiral. In theory you’d have to first be outgoing to quickly learn the social skills that get people to accept you. Fortunately there is something else you can do. You can take small steps leading up to your goals. If your goal is to have 5 or 10 new friends that you regularly meet and have fun with then your first step would be to get comfortable around others. You can go to the mall and just check out the stores, sit in the food court and eat something and you don’t even have to say anything to anyone. Once you’re comfortable just being outside by yourself and going about your day in public places you can then take another step. Go to social meet ups in your area. A great site is meetup.com Here you can find endless groups from comic fans, gamers, chess groups, movie fans, sports groups and most of them are free to join. You can visit one of their events and you’ll find people who are there just to make friends. Many of them will be there for the first time, just like you. That’s a perfect way to increase your friends circle in a way that’s not threatening and rejection proof. As you get comfortable meeting new people you’ll start to notice your shyness will slowly start to go away. Every time you come back from an outing find out what you could’ve done better and then look up tricks and tips online to help you improve your social skills To Continue Learning More About This Article Follow This Link: More on shyness from this author.
