One of my teachers once told me that the key to education is repetition and Wallace Wattles must have known that when he wrote his book, “The Science of Getting Rich” because he repeats his method of thinking over and over again. Here is a version of his formula the “Certain Way”.

1. Make a definite vision
2. Have a fixed purpose
3. Keep a steady faith
4. Feel deep gratitude

This formula is summarized in the following quote from the book:

"And, the riches they receive will be in exact proportion to the definiteness of their vision, the fixity of their purpose, the steadiness of their faith, and the depth of their gratitude."

In this quote, he emphasizes that the amount riches that come to you will depend on how intensely you focus on these. Riches will be proportionate to the degree in which you can express these four items.

So just having a casual interest in getting rich will result in a casual income. Everyone is different and will desire differing degrees of wealth. You get to choose how much you want by how much effort you are willing to put forth. But if your desire to be rich is a passionate and burning desire, your results will be much more impressive.

In T. Harv Eker’s book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind”, Harv talks about how most people who are poor are so because they are not willing to do what rich people were willing to do to get rich. He says you can want to be rich, or choose to be rich but the highest level is to commit to being rich. Here is a quote, which really drives home the point that your degree of commitment is important:

“Are you willing to work 16 hours a day? Rich people are. Are you willing to work 7 days a week and give up most of your weekends? Rich people are. Are you wiling to sacrifice seeing your family, friends, and give up recreations and hobbies? Rich people are. Are you willing to risk all your time, energy, and start-up capital with no guarantee of returns? Rich people are.

“For a time, hopefully a short time, but often a long time, rich people are ready and willing to do all of the above. Are you?”

Now of course, he doesn’t mean go to the extremes we hear about, where people get rich but it costs them their marriages, their health, or their friends. Balance is the key. But within that framework, you will be rewarded to the degree of your commitment.

As many success coaches say, “What is your WHY?” Your “WHY” is the reason you want to get rich. Is it strong enough for you to be committed to it? If not, then that may be one reason why you haven’t manifested riches yet. Make sure that your “WHY” is strong enough, and filled with enough passion, for you to commit yourself to its end result. And that means don’t ever give up!

Write down your WHY on a card and keep it with you at all times as a reminder of your commitment to becoming a better person, achieving your dreams, and manifesting your true potential.
