Mist elimination separates mists or water molecules from a gas stream and recovers valuable products, improves emission, protects downstream equipment and improves the purity of the product.

Mist eliminators are generally available in three types: Wire Mesh, Baffle type and Fiber Bed.

Wire mesh:This is a very common mist elimination technology where a knitted wire mesh pad removes liquid droplets from gas streams. Here a tightly knitted wire mesh can remove liquid droplets down to 3mm from a gas stream with velocity above 1ft/s. The mesh is made of woven metal fibers. Metal sheets are layered on top of one another to provide greater permeability. A typical pad is about 6 inches thick and diameter is about 3-5% larger than the equipment diameter in order to reduce the bypassing of the mist.

Advantages:efficiency, inexpensive and easy to operate, can be designed to specification, can be installed on the existing equipment.

Disadvantages: restricted efficiency, clogging, produces more pressure drop than baffle-type.

Baffle type:Also known as chevron or van, this type of eliminator changes the direction of gas and force the liquid droplet to collect on the baffle surface. It is effective for droplets larger than 3mm and velocities above 500ft/min. The contacting surface of this eliminator can be of 2 types, Louvers and Blades.

The Louver type has 3-6 rows of blades at 30-60 degree angles of the flow. Louver baffles are mostly used in cooling towers and are have high capacities. But, this type is ineffective for droplets smaller than 20mm.

Blade type eliminators are generally made of a row of baffle with ½ inch-3inches between them. The blade spacing controls the amount of mist can be collected. The blades are 6-12 inches deep in direction of the gas flow.

Advantages:

Low pressure drop

No clogging issues

High capacity,

Can be fabricated easily

Blade spacing can be manipulated to achieve desired result

Disadvantages:

They can’t remove droplets smaller than 3mm

Reentrainment can only be avoided by controlling the gas stream velocity

Fiber bed:This type consists of columns of fibrous materials that eliminate mist from gas stream as it passes through them. Fiber-bed eliminators can remove very fine droplets of liquid entrained in a gas stream. These are extremely efficient for large liquid flow rates and removing droplets smaller than 3mm. However, it is limited to gas flow rates between 3-10 m/min and they can cause high pressure drops.

The fibers here are made of glass, plastic, ceramic, roped metal or loose metal fiber. They are mostly 2-3 inches thick between the framework made of metal or reinforced plastic, called the fiber-bed cage.

Advantages: highly efficient, can remove a large quantity of liquid at a time due to its bigger contacting surface; can remove droplets smaller than 3mm.

Disadvantages: higher pressure drop, poor drainage and clogging, can’t be used for vertical gas flow.

Now if you are looking for a MIST ELIMINATOR MANUFACTURER, you will find a number of names. But what you need in case of a technology like this is a trusted partner, who can provide you an array of services, so choose your MIST ELIMINATOR MANUFACTURER wisely.

The Evolution of the Doorstep Handshake In the early days of the renewable energy boom, the transition to solar power was often viewed as a purely transactional event. Homeowners saw panels on a roof, signed a contract, and hoped for the best. However, as the industry matured, the focus shifted from the hardware itself to the human connection that precedes the installation. This shift has turned a simple meeting into a cornerstone of business growth. The journey toward a sust
