Do you really need a Facebook business page?
One question often is: "I have a profile page on Facebook, do you really need a Facebook business page?"
That is like the question (in dentistry), "Do I really need to floss?" You know the answer ... Only the teeth you want to keep!
At first, Facebook was just for making connections, not business, so the profile pages. It was a profile of you, your personal likes and dislikes.
Then companies began to see the power of Facebook site and began creating profile pages for your business (which is actually against the rules of Facebook). Facebook style ... Facebook began making changes (imagine that!) And created the part of the Facebook business page.
The profile pages are very limited in what can and can not be done in terms of a business is concerned. The most notable is that viewers have to wait for confirmation after sending a "friend request."
To see how different the two are going to see PROFILE-vs-business this way:
Your profile page is actually a personal page (and not to be used as a business by FB). It's like home. If someone comes to your door at home, knocks on your door and you have to wait to be let in.
Their website business is just ... . Your business. When someone comes to your workplace, you walk right in (during office hours, of course). They do not have to wait to be "confirmed". Remember that we live in an age of "instant gratification"!
With that said, think of people interested in doing business with you having to wait outside until the leaves (PROFILE: waiting to confirm his "friend request").
It can sometimes take days. At that time, you can confirm, but it may have already found someone else to do business. Who has lost a potential client or patient.
With a BUSINESS Facebook page, visitors walk right in the moment "like" you. The "Like" is only open the door. No waiting for approval. Come to think of it, when did you ever have to wait to be approved before you can walk into a store or shop or business for services?
We also talked about the brand and how important it is the mark of our business. We actually spent a lot of time ... write messages, upload photos, create videos, publish our biographies, in response to viewers ... our trademark ... for viewers and potential clients and patients to get to our Facebook page ... . Just to have ... . Please wait while approving / confirming your request for friendship!
That's like finally getting a new perspective to call your office ... . Just to be placed on hold endlessly ... I hope they are still in line to return to them!
Why would you want to make a new potential client or patient waiting to see all you have available to them when they do not have too? You have spent and invested much time in getting the prospect to your site Facebook to do but wait!
So if you've seen the light and thought are ... . "Well, if I can create a business page, I lose all the people who have connected with in my profile page?" Of course not! They are still connected to them, you can contact them, and point to your business page.
If you are comfortable with creating Facebook pages, you can create your own business page (connected to your profile page) or hire a social media specialist.
So in answer to the original question: "... Do I really need a business Facebook page?" Answer: "Only if you're in the business"
The point is that when you're in business, you always want to put your best foot business. So open your doors and be "open to the public." Creating Business Facebook page and let potential new customers ... walk right in!
