The search and desire for Knowledge is a natural human tendency. One always wants to travel from ignorance to knowledge, from darkness to light! We are always, consciously or otherwise, aspiring for growth towards becoming a better version of ourselves. And for that to happen, we tend to seek knowledge which can give us a good sense of the direction we ought to take and which can help us decide whether the direction we’ve taken is right or not. However, simultaneously we also fear the possibility of the opposite to happen i.e. plunging into darkness from the realms of light. All of this is apt to make one wonder whether knowledge always leads to knowledge, and ultimately, to liberation, and whether ignorance always leads to ignorance. Let us explore! Before we begin, it is important to understand the reason why knowledge is valued so much. Knowledge is valued over Ignorance because of its Ability to Relieve us from our Sorrows.Knowledge of the physical world has made life so convenient and much less painful. Knowledge of the human body has made it very easy to resist and fight against diseases which, some time ago, were life-threatening. And knowledge of spiritual matters has made it possible to bear the most difficult of times with peace and tranquility. Hence, one can safely say that a state of knowledge is anytime better than the state of ignorance. However, one, almost invariably, begins from a state of ignorance and gradually attains the state of knowledge. Ignorance breeds IgnorancernWhile ignorance always leads to more ignorance, at some point however there takes places a transition where a crossing of the threshold from the realms of ignorance to the realms of knowledge happens. This is a very significant event, and it requires a catalyst - the Guru, the teacher, the mentor – to make it happen!!! The Importance of Guru in LifernOnly someone who has made the journey from darkness to light himself can show others the way, and help them cross over to the land of knowledge. This holds as much truth for material knowledge as it does for the spiritual kind. The ignorance of our Real Self is the root cause of all our mistakes due to which we undergo endless suffering in life. This ignorance of our real identity flaws our perception, leading us to see faults in others that, “it is because of him or her that I suffered”. But once we happen to meet a Gnani Purush, the Enlightened One, he destroys our ignorance by giving us the Knowledge of our Real Self. Having this knowledge, we are equipped with light that enables smooth worldly interactions and ensures easy spiritual growth, as a result of which, we no longer experience misery in life; we become free from the shackles of ignorance. This is the reason our ancient scriptures have placed so much importance on the need for the right Gnani and also on the gratitude owed to Gnani for helping us make the transition. Gnani Purush Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, served as a great catalyst to help people break the shackles of ignorance regarding our own Self. And today, Pujya Deepakbhai, the Living Gnani, continues to catalyze this real knowledge of ‘Who am I?’ (Self-realization), to every person who aspires to seek it, across the world, in just two hours, and for no cost whatsoever; yes it’s absolutely free – such is the Gnani’s grace and compassion!!! Once in the realm of Knowledge, One must not become Complacent.Having received any knowledge, knowledge shall always lead to further knowledge of the next mile. However, there are many dangers, which can once again conjure the veils of ignorance, and set us back in our journey of progress. The main cause for this occasional tumble is ego - the feeling of doership, which causes one to blunder and fall. Therefore, until one has achieved final liberation, one must always be vigilant and look out for the signs of ego, aspiring to nip it in the bud. Again, all of this is only possible with the grace of the Guru, the spiritual mentor, and with our own pure inner intent to progress on the path shown by our Guru, the spiritual guide. To conclude:rnWhile ignorance, through its very nature, breeds more ignorance, at some point it becomes possible to attain knowledge. And the ultimate knowledge is the real knowledge. While the chief outcome of real knowledge is liberation, one must be vigilant enough so as to never allow their ego to interfere in the process. To make this possible, one must stay as much as possible in contact with a true Gnani! To know more please visit: https://www.dadabhagwan.org/self-realization/
