Obesity is an epidemic disease and can be seen affecting millions of people all around the world. Obesity itself is not a serious threat, but the kind of diseases it invites are. Many people have this question, does obesity cause diabetes, in their mind. Many experts and doctors now believe that obesity causes diabetes. There are ways to tackle diabetes; however, it is wise to remove the problem form the root.

The BMI (Body-Mass Index) is the most preferred ratio used to gauge obesity. It is the ratio of the height and weight of a person. BMI of more than 30 kilograms per meter square indicates an obese person. Obesity and diabetes are closely interrelated. Apart from diabetes, obesity is also associated with many other diseases and ailments.

There can be multiple reasons for obesity and the leading cause is your diet. Many health related issues stem from diet. Irregular diet and lack of exercise increase the probability of getting overweight. Genetics or family history are also among the important causes.

The pancreas release the insulin to maintain the glucose levels in our body. The fat cells release some kind of proteins into the bloodstreams. These proteins desensitize our body to insulin and force the pancreas to produce more insulin. Pancreas after being forced to create more insulin get overworked and halt their operation and this results in diabetes.

There are three types of diabetes type-1, type-2, and gestational. In type-1 diabetes, the pancreas stop producing insulin due to some reasons. This is not related to any other disease such as obesity. Type-2 diabetes is a direct result of obesity, as it produces the proteins that negate the effects of insulin causing pancreas to produce more insulin. Type-3 is associated with the hormonal changes. It may occur during pregnancy in women. Although many experts are in favor of this theory, there exist a few scientists and medical practitioners who not only reject this theory, but castigate its very foundation.

No matter what result will come out of this discussion over diabetes, you should always be on a safer side. Obesity is a curse and it is always believed that the faster you act to cure it, the better the results of your survival. It has a slow and poisonous effect that does not show an immediate change in the person. You must be watchful and take necessary steps in-time to avoid any mishap. In any case a medical advice is recommended.

Obesity and diabetes both are manageable. After all, you have created those fat cells inside you and they can be removed only by you.
