Dog doors enable you to provide your pet the freedom to move in and out of your house without compromising the safety aspects of your house in general. There are various types of high security pet doors like the wall tunnel pet door and the electronic signal pet doors. Electronic signal dog doors can be installed directly into any exterior door. It comes with a sensor that can sense when your dog needs to go out or come in. The dog will have a unique electronic signal transmitter attached to its collar, which will be detected by the sensor when the pet comes near the door. Each collar device has its own unique code which enables the door sensor to detect your pet from other pets that might have a sensor collar. A wall tunnel door is a permanent pet door, which can be fixed through the wall of your home and is easily adjusted to fit your pet. The heavy metal frames, panels and locks will prevent the risk of burglary. While buying a dog door for your home, a few tips will go a long way in ensuring a well-informed purchase. Make sure that the dog door that you buy matches with the size of your dog. If you have multiple dogs of varying sizes select a door that would let in the largest of the lot. The width of the dog door should be wider than the widest part of your pet. It is sensible to allow some additional room for growth, as pets become obese with age. The height of the dog door also should be in such a way that the dog can get in easily without straining itself. Before going for the dog doors make a cardboard prototype in the determined dimensions and see whether the dog can pass through it comfortably. Some dog breeds are more flexible than others; however on the safer side, it is better to take into account the bigger and the rigid dog in the pack to ensure maximum space. Dog doors are available in a range of materials and also as single pane and double pane models. In areas that experience extreme summer and winter, a double pane pet door will be a better option as it ensures less heat loss during winter.
