Once you understand the different types of dog training that's available and the issues they either correct or sharpen, you will be able to quickly solve your dog issues.  If you are looking to have your pooch fit-in around people and other pets without wreaking havoc and possibly being destructive. You are in need of Behavior Training. This type of training will teach “doggy manners”, so your dog will blend in with family activities and go mostly unnoticed.  When you want your dog to learn how to heel, sit or stay, etc; you would be looking for Obedience Training. A dog taught these skills will follow your verbal command and or signal. Repetition is the key here. (This type of training should not be used to correct a dog’s behavioral issues.)  Hunters looking for a dog to retrieve their prey or professionals looking to hone their dog’s acute senses will require Agility Training. These dogs are usually chosen for the breeds unique abilities. Recently, sport activities such as flyball and Frisbee have been added to this category. rnSometimes, obedience training will alleviate a behavioral problem, like when a dog that has been trained to heel, stops pulling on the leash; but that is not often the case.rnUnderstanding which type of dog training is needed to correct your dog’s particular issues will make choosing how to handle the situation less stressful!rnNever punish the dog while you are training. Punishment stifles learning. If necessary avert the dog’s attention if it is being destructive. Never be cruel to your dog. rnWhen training your dog choose the setting carefully, avoid areas with distractions and start off with commands that require fewer than three actions. rnThe dog must see you as the “Alpha Dog”. Be stern and firm in both your verbal command and body language. When you give a command make sure the dog carries out your instructions to the fullest extent, then and only then reward the dog with a special treat and /or praise. Dogs quickly associate completing a command with receiving treats. So naturally, they try hard to do what is necessary to get those treats. (Once the command becomes second nature the treats are not necessary.)rnRepeat this practice as many times as necessary, until you are sure the dog has mastered the command. Remember… dog training takes patience!rnWhether this is your first dog or your tenth you’re always on the look- out for good dog training tips and assistance. All dogs have different personalities that can challenge the best training methods, that is why being better prepared handle those challenges can help put an end to ongoing behavioral issues.rnProfessional training or do-it-yourself training is up to you. If you choose a professional training service, be sure to get references and understand what guarantee is included. Professional dog training is not cheap and does require homework even after the service is completed.rnUse the internet to gather as much information as possible for all available dog training options. First time dog owners have achieved professional results by following tips and instructions for dog training found on the web. When you compare the cost of professional dog training services vs. internet based dog training systems then add the fact that you are most likely going to have to continue to train your dog to follow your command, as opposed to the trainers command anyway. Doesn’t it make sense to give it a chance? Worst that can happen is that you spend more quality time with your furry friend!
