Do you own a website but aren't getting the traffic you were hoping for? Then it may be time for you to learn Search Engine Marketing to give your visitors count a boost.

It's a piece of cake to learn search engine marketing once you understand how search engines work. Every search engine works differently and every one of them have different algorithms that determine how high a webpage is being ranked. Today, we're only going to focus on the biggest search engine out there: Google.

You see, there are certain things you can do, both inside and outside your website, to increase Google ranking. One thing you need to do on your website, is to optimize your pages to a keyword you selected. I always go for keywords that get over 1000 searches per month and have under 5000 "quoted results" in Google. Google provides a free keyword tool that makes the research a little easier.

Once you've selected your keyword, you can optimize your pages by repeating your selected keyword phrase about 1 to 5 times, every 100 words. Put your keyword phrase in your URL, in your title, your images and of course, your text. There are tools available that keep track of your keyword density while you're writing, but if you can't afford those tools, you can just count on your own.

Once you're happy with the content on your website, it's time to create links from other websites, to your websites. You see, Google LOVES websites that are popular and the best way to recognize a popular website, is to count how many other websites are linking to it.

But how do you get other websites to link to yours?

Well, let me explain. What you are reading right now, is called an article. Articles are designed to generate traffic to your website. This traffic comes from people who are reading your articles and click on your link and from people who are searching for your selected keyword phrase on Google.

The amount of backlinks needed to be ranked on the first page of Google, varies wildly. Some keywords need as much as 30 backlinks, some only need 2. Just keep writing articles to be save. Writing articles is a very fun and effective way to get more traffic.

Well there you have it.. An easy to follow system to increase Google ranking. It's really this straight forward and all it requires is some effort and patience. it may take a while for Google to pick up on your backlinks and give you a high ranking.
