Don't Settle for Less

I have settled for a lot less tha I should have on too many occasions in my life for me to count. When I look back at the things that I should have fought for I realize how much that I have lost over the years and I’m sure that you do also. Sometimes we can become complacent with our situation in life and begin to accept the status quo. I have done this and missed out on opportunities because I lost my hunger and my drive to be successful and when the opportunity had played itself out I was left holding the bag. I have watched many football games where one team had a major lead at halftime just to blow it and lose the game in the second half. The problem was that the big lead that they had built up caused them to become complacent and to believe that the game would be easily won. Because they gave in to this complacency they ended up losing. When we become complacent we cease to grow. When we cease to grow we become stagnant. In order to grow we have to continue to stretch and use one hundred percent of our being. The wise man is the man who always seeks to grow mentally. He knows that he can learn from just about every experience that he has in life and from each person that he meets. A really wise man will know that he can learn from those of low social and economic status as well as those of high status. He can learn from the small child as well as the older man or woman. King Solomon who was the wisest man who ever lived wrote about the habits of the ant and the grasshopper in the book of proverbs. Solomon’s entire life was one big classroom experience. He was continually searching and expanding his knowledge base for as long as he lived. So should you. Successful people don’t quit when they reach a goal. They seek out another goal and reach for it. The real reason for their success is just that they are passionately driven. I remember the commercial about the football team whose coach was really berating them at halftime. He continued to point out all of the things that they were doing wrong during the game when one of the players pointed out to him that they had a large lead. He then told them that his reason for berating them is that when you are good you are good all of the time. Never settle for second best. Not only do successful people never quit, they expect to be successful whenever they take on a new task. Their mindset is not one of if I win, or if I complete this task but when I win, and when I complete this task. There is never any doubt in their minds as to what the outcome of the situation will be. They know that they will have to invest time and effort in the tasks which need to be accomplished and they will continue to plug along until they get what they want. They are not deterred by adverse circumstances. They see them only as temporary setbacks which will be overcome with some extra time and effort. Don’t allow the thought of defeat to hinder you when you seek to accomplish a goal. Think of the victory instead. This was really a problem for me for quite a long time but I am changing my mindset. It is not an ove ight process or an easy one but I’m progressing. The winner will find a way to win. He or she knows that there is always a way out of a situation if they can key in and find it. They also know that they need to use every available asset that they have in order to win. They also have painted a clear picture in their minds of where they want to go and they best route to get there. Riceland Enterprises
