Dos And Don’ts For Office Fitouts Maintenance

For any business in Melbourne, furniture is a great investment that takes a significant amount of money for its set up. Hence, it is important to make them run for longer time so as to avoid their frequent disabilities and anymore expenses to repair them. Maintenance is also required for the reason that a well kept office fitouts put a good impression on the visitors and clients. Employees also feel good to work in a clean and neat environment. Therefore, it becomes necessary to ensure that the office furniture items are properly maintained. Doesn’t matter, if you have got office fitouts or commercial fitouts every furniture item needs maintenance. Here are some tips to care your fixtures.

Dos

  • Cleaning is the most important part that determines the shine and beauty of the wooden furniture. Hence, prefer using soft and clean cloth to wipe the dusty fitouts so that to maintain the polish. You can also use a light polish if needed.
  • Having soft drinks, tea or coffee is common at workplace, but that often leads to stains from the glass or the cup. This should be immediately cleaned, because if once it remain for longer it may not be that easy to remove later. Use coasters are advised.
  • To avoid the accumulation of dust at workplace, always encourage your employees to practice clean desk strategy. It is important that you provide enough storage systems like filing cabinets to store documents and paperwork or any other office supplies on their desks.
  • Use desk pads to prevent scratches on the office desk top surfaces. Try to use it for every object you keep on the desk top. This will reduce the possibility of scratches and so is the expense for re-polishing.
  • Report any defect you find before it gets worse. Tell your employees to do the same. If you observe any defect such as imbalanced chair while sitting on it, loose screw, loosen desk joints, etc. inform maintenance department immediately. This will ensure safety as well as any further damage.

Don’ts

  • Do not use duster to clean your office fitouts as this will reduce its life. Duster’s rough surface may put scratches on the furniture and make it look dull.
  • Encourage employees to not to eat at their workstations, so as to prevent any food stains on desk tops as this might be difficult to remove.
  • Do not expose leather office fitouts to sunlight, because it will fade its color quickly. To avoid direct contact with the furniture use thick drapes or curtains on your window.
  • Do not use wet cloth to clean the wooden surface. Always use a dry cloth and wipe the desk regularly. Even if water spill on the desk, clean it immediately and make sure that there is not even a drop of water left on it.
  • Do not move heavy fixtures by dragging or tracking them on the floor. This not only damages the floor but also wears its feet and makes them imbalanced. Prefer using bumpers under the legs for safety.
