One of the most important factors in Internet Marketing is driving traffic to a website or offer. Not just any traffic, but targeted traffic. The site itself may be built around a great idea and have excellent products, but if it is not receiving the right kind of traffic it will not be successful. The task of driving traffic should always be taken seriously and the best possible strategies should be used.
Fortunately, Internet marketing tools exist to help website owners and marketers attract the targeted traffic that is required in order to realize a profit. Google Adwords offers an effective advertising service as a way to funnel traffic to a website, blog or affiliate marketing offer.
How Google Adwords Works
As the largest search engine on the Internet, Google receives more than 3 billion queries per day at present and by the time Google facts are printed, the numbers have increased dramatically. Google’s name was derived from Googol, the term mathematicians use to signify the enormous quantity of information it would provide to searchers.
Because of the great amount of traffic it generates, Google launched Adwords as a service to individuals and businesses to advertise to a targeted audience for instant traffic. The customer writes a short text ad and when a searcher clicks on the ad they are taken to the website or affiliate product offered.
To use Google Adwords, first open a Google account with the adwords service. Just type Google Adwords in Google’s search and it will take you to a page to sign up and open a free account. In your settings, target the country or countries where you want to advertise and the chosen language. This is an important step to avoid wasting money by advertising to a country in which you cannot sell your service or product. Next, you will write your ad, choose the keywords and decide how much you are willing to pay for each click.
Pay Per Click Advertising
The PPC–Pay Per Click–refers to the amount you will pay each time someone clicks on your ad. Whether or not they buy something does not enter into the cost. You pay for each click on your ad. The amount you want to spend on each click or the total for each day can be set in advance. Be sure to keep this amount within your budget so you do not have any surprises by running up a huge bill with Google. Complete instructions can be found at Google’s website.
To make the ad more effective, create a catchy headline, or title. Write a clear message as to exactly what you are promoting in order to attract qualified leads. Do not try trick phrases, as you will end up paying for clicks on your ad from people who are just curious and not interested in your offer. Another consequence of trick advertising is when visitors arrive at your site they will be angered that it has nothing to do with your ad. That alone will make sure you do not get any sales. Once people know they were tricked, they will never become your customer. Be honest with your target audience, as that will go a long way toward your success.
