Most drug treatment centers Florida, and elsewhere in the country are much like jails. It is true that taking drugs is illegal, but people in these centers are not exactly convicts, because they have not been arrested for peddling drugs. They are addicts who have become a victim of some condition, and need care, and specialized medical intervention. Treating their act as a crime and confining them might actually make matters worse and deepen the crisis. A conscious effort must be made to treat the causes of their addiction and bring them back to mainstream society. Sadly, this approach is not followed at a majority of the drug rehabilitation centers.
Why the Old Approach Is Not Working Anymore
Drug and alcohol addiction have become an issue of serious conce
in the US, and in many other parts of the world. The federal and the local administration are doing their bit to control the menace and even eradicate it, but the reality is, there is no immediate solution in sight. The approach followed by the drug rehabilitation centers Florida and elsewhere in the country are also not helping matters. Often, the addict returns to his or her earlier way of life even after the person is stated to have completely recovered from the addiction problem and there seems to be no respite for family and friends. Addiction is not just an issue conce
ing an individual, but also a social problem that needs urgent attention. Perhaps, a new approach is necessary to find a long-term solution.
Some Centers Follow a New Approach to Drug Rehab
There are a few drug treatment centers Florida who have now realized that a new approach needs to be followed. Many of them have conceded the fact that many of the old theories and approaches are not working any more. Accepting this as a fact is seen a good beginning.
They are exploring new ideas, and have started experimenting with new approaches. The results have been much better than expected. Most of these centers are reporting a higher success rate and better long-term results already. It is expected that as more centers nationwide emulate these newer approaches that are being tried out at the drug treatment centers Florida, we are going to hear more success stories from across the country. That is great news indeed, both for the addicts, and for their family and friends.
What is wrong with the earlier approach?
A majority of the treatment centers are still following the 28-day treatment protocol or such other programs, where there is hardly any scope for personalization. The fact remains that because, each patient is different, the challenges they face and situation they are in are also completely unique. A "one-solution-for-all" approach will never work. The drug treatment centers Florida that have reported better success with treatment have all concentrated on devising individual treatment plans that meet of the needs of each individual patient. Such treatments are always devised by involving the patient. It is participation of the patient that makes the results better.
