How Does The Dyson Bladeless Ventilator Work?

These types of fans are truly amazing. When you look at one, you will be surprised to note that there is not a single moving part in sight. How does a cylindrical opening push air without blades?

The answer may appear not too convoluted, scientifically at least. The tubes do not have any blades but the pedestal of the Ventilateur contains a brushless electric motor that sucks in air and delivers it into the cylindrical portion of the fan. The basic airflow is provided by the slits inside the tube through which the air flows. Interestingly, Dyson claims that these fans circulates breeze more than 15 times than what they take in.

The principle

Scientifically, no breeze can be generated without impellers or blades, and this is true even for Dyson Ventilateur. As mentioned earlier, the blades are hidden in the pedestal, where a set of asymmetrically aligned blades suck air into the cylindrical device. Dyson calls this type of fan air multiplier because these asymmetrical blades can suck in about 20 liters of air per second. This is truly a large volume by any standards. This state-of-the-art process works by what are called inducement and entrainment.

Advantages

* This type of blower is safe. With no blades to monitor, it looks safe if you have little kids or pets around.

* In conventional blowers, the breeze seems to gush at variable speeds. But in this case air flows at a constant rate. Even at various settings, the flow of air is comfortable.

* No hassles of cleaning blades that gets dirty over time. You just need to clean the cylindrical surface which is relatively an easy job.

* Bladeless blowers are hygienically clean too. No dirty blades mean there are no dusts and molds straight into your face.

* These gadgets are much sturdier than the conventional stuff. Interestingly, they are not made of cheap plastic either. Dyson Ventilateur are made of Acrylontride butadiene styrene (ABS), a tough plastic used in the manufacture of light but rugged products. Being light in weight, these bladeless blowers are convenient to carry around.

Drawbacks

* The Ventilateur has higher noise as it circulates breeze at a rate 15 times higher than conventional blowers.

* Dyson fans are expensive.

To summarize, buy a Dyson bladeless fan if you are concerned about safety and hygiene. On the other hand, if you are hard on budget, stick to the conventional fan.
