For this reason, savvy Internet entrepreneurs must understand how to successfully use this avenue to market their goods and services without being filtered out as spam. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is through the use of e-newsletters.

The Effective Use of Newsletters

An e-newsletter is very similar to a traditional newsletter, with the only difference being the method of distribution. Such newsletters can be emailed as part of the body of a message or included as a link with an e-mail. The purpose of the link is obviously to encourage the recipient to visit the website. The content of the newsletter will depend on the objectives of the marketer. However, the general goal of all Internet entrepreneurs should be to provide meaningful information related to the products and services they offer.

Such newsletters should not contain blatant advertising catch phrases or personal opinions regarding goods or services. Feature articles are a wise choice, as well as shorter blocks of text that offer suggestions and valuable advice to the reader. Whether the marketer writes his or her own pieces or hires a professional freelancer for the task, the content should be carefully reviewed for accuracy and quality prior to publishing it in the e-newsletter.

Marketers should also give thought to graphical elements when creating e-newsletters. For example, one may wish to include pictures of the products being sold on his or her website. Targeting the Most Appropriate Audience

Sending emails to an uninterested audience or spamming potential customers should be avoided at all costs. A much better course of action is to ask both current and potential clients if they would like to receive more information about the services and products being offered.

People are much more apt to read an e-mail or newsletter that has been sent to them in response to their request for information. It is also important to allow individuals to opt out if they no longer wish to receive the marketer's newsletters or other materials. Ultimately, using legitimate advertising practices and respecting the desires of one's customers is imperative to running a successful e-mail marketing campaign.
