Your child might have a hard time wearing glasses or headphones. Mictoria can also effect the kidneys, but usually in a non life threatening way. Hearing loss is also a common effect from mictoria. Ear Microtia can be corrected by surgery. Children born with microtia, will most liekly want to have their ear microtia repaired through surgery. Surgery can be a great tool to correct children born with microtia. Surgery is sometimes necessary to fix microtia, because microtia can cause hearing loss. Microtia causes hearing loss because it does not allow sound to travel properly into the ear. Hearing loss probably the biggest obstacle about having microtia. If a child is born with the congenital ear deformity, microtia, your child will be evaluated at birth. Microtia will be noticeable and your baby will undergo a hearing test to see how microtia is affecting the hearing of your child. If your child has microtia, you will want to wait until he or she is a little bit older. The perfect time to have microtia surgery performed, is the year of the first grade. Your child should wait until age 6, to ensure the proper growth of the ear before undergoing surgery.
