Who doesn’t love summers? Summers bring beach days, mangoes, and many more colorful and exciting things. However, there is one unwelcomed creature that this season brings, which has been the cause of concern for many people, and that is, of course, the Wasps! Wasps are present throughout the year, but their number surges in between the summers. These pests are attracted to humid conditions, and that’s what acts as a magnet for these creatures in summers. Wasps are found throughout the world, especially in Canada. Most of the people treat common wasps in Ontario through pest control chemicals. In contrast, others go for simple strategies to ensure that these creatures stay away from their places. The following are some tips that you can follow to ensure a pest-free summer. Cover any holes and broken panels The first step towards getting rid of this problem is to locate the wasp nest. Take a thorough tour of your house and look for any nest. On finding the nest, just shoot in with a wasp killing spray. In case you don’t come across any nest, look for any holes and broken panels where wasps could potentially be building nests. You need to immediately cover and block all those holes. Go for making a decoy nest You can fool wasps by making a decoy nest. Wasps are very territorial by nature. If they see any nest nearby, they will try to occupy it instead of making a new one. You can take advantage of this fact and make a decoy nest. You can make a fake nest easily by using a paper bag and then hang it in a place where wasps are more likely to be found. The moment you realize that they have occupied the nest completely, you can simply take it off and use a plastic bag to seal it, or you can simply spray on it. Avoid wearing fruity fragrances Wasps are attracted to fruity fragrances. All kinds of floral scents and fruit fragrances act as a magnet to wasps, and nobody wants to be a walking magnet for these creatures. If you are going to spend a lot of time in the backyard, don’t wear any fruit scent. You never know when you suddenly feel a wasp crawling on your skin because of that. Make use of peppermint oil Peppermint oil is known to act as a wasp repellent. You can consider sprinkling some peppermint oil on the grass of your backyard. You can also soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and place it in the corners of your house and all other places where you think the wasps could potentially be found. By following all these tips, you can keep wasps away from your place to a great extent. Also, maintain the temperature of your house and never let it get too humid as wasps are attracted to high humidity.
