We, as humans, are social beings. And being social means we interact with other people. Because of that we care more and more about our lifestyle, the image we have and the first impressions we make. And one of the most important parts in leaving a good first impression is our look. And being fat won’t make us any good. But why do we get fat? Well, there are lots of reasons for why we are fat. But the most important of them is because we eat! I, for one, don’t know any case of anyone getting fat without eating. And most of the times we eat because we are hungry! There are eating habits that make you hungry, even if it’s been less than one hour since you had one of your main meals. Do you feel always hungry and like eating anything in your way, even though you passed puberty and you’re not pregnant. This means that this constant hunger you feel is induced by yourself through the way you’re actually eating. Find out what you are doing wrong that makes you feel hungry all the time. 1. Spices like mustard, ginger, parsley, turmeric The yellow sauce you love so much on your hotdogs increases the amount of saliva or other digestive secretions. As a consequence, this increases you appetite. Besides reducing sickness, ginger is known for its appetite stimulation properties and for reducing abdominal cramps. Parsley contains lots of vitamin C (four times more than citruses), which makes is odd because no one is thinking of how much parsley can increase ones appetite. Turmeric is used in Indian traditional medicine for stimulating appetite. 2. Lack of proteins Proteins convince the brain that you have quenched your hunger. So, if you don’t have the sufficient quantity of proteins, your digestive system tells the brain that you didn’t eat enough food. Hence, the hunger sensation appears. Even though some nutritionist recommend having proteins at dinner (because satiety appears faster, thus avoiding eating too much), I think that each meal should have a fair amount of proteins. This will ensure a longer period of time until you will feel hungry again, making sure you can concentrate on your daily jobs instead of thinking about food. An American study showed that people who had 15% less proteins than the daily necessary felt hungry sooner after breakfast than the ones that had more proteins. 3. Too much salt, too much sugar You may consume more sugar or salt than you should. And this is because most of the foods found in the store contain more sugar, salt or both because of various reasons: taste, preservatives. The sad part is that both of these substances influence your appetite: you can eat as much as you like, you will still be able to eat something sweet. And the other way around: you can eat as many sweets as you like, you’ll still want soup and stake. 4. Diet food Their main advantage: the low amount of fat they have compared to the same non-diet product, can have its risks for your health and silhouette: the artificial sweeteners they have stimulate your appetite, your body will get less calcium (that help losing weight and being healthy) and less good fats (that help your cardiovascular system). You may be a person that takes good care of what you eat and you don’t fit in any of the reasons mentioned above, but you still feel hungry all the time. This means your appetite may be determined by your lifestyle. 5. You didn’t drink enough water A dehydrated organism manifests through various symptoms, some of which resemble hunger very much. That is why it is very important to drink at least 2 liters of water each day. 6. You didn’t sleep enough Not getting enough sleep determines your body to secrete more ghrelin (one of the hormones that make you feel hungry). The result: obviously, you will be hungry. 7. You drank alcohol It is a well-known fact that small quantities of alcohol increase your appetite (by stimulating gastric secretions). Consuming large amounts of alcohol lead to dehydration, which leads to the symptoms mentioned at point 5.. 8. Too much stress Daily stress increases your levels of cortisone and insulin and these lead to hunger. 9. You are overwhelmed by what you see The pastry shops everywhere look good and smell even better. The snacks your colleagues have at work are all tasty and diverse. All these things convince you that you are one of the hungriest persons on earth, even if you’re not. The key to losing weight or to stop gaining weight is, of course, avoiding the habits mentioned above. Having a healthy lifestyle is the main key to a healthy body. As you have seen, the diet composition is very important into having a well-balanced nutrition. But if that still doesn’t work, here are some tricks to deceive your body into not feeling so hungry: 1. Smell the food: this tricks your brain into inducing satiety. 2. Don’t run away from the right fats: choose the right fats, such as raw olive oil, nut oil, avocado oil. They contain, amongst other good substances, oleic acid that makes reduces your hunger for a long time.
