Both can apply as per the notification or advertisement issued by the bank. 2. Probationary Officer: Probationary officers are at the next level to clerks. They are hired after an evaluation process which includes a written entrance exam and an interview. Being ranked above the clerk, they tend to enjoy higher perks and salary as well. It is a plus point that even clerks too can become PO via internal processing and promotions. rnEligibility- Usually, candidates with a graduate degree and even higher with a certain age limit are eligible for the position of PO. 3. Specialist Officer: Specialist officers are just like experts in any other field. They are definitely more experienced and standardized than the lower levels. They tend to work in a number of departments and hence are actually from variant field areas. They work in specific departments such as  Engineeringrn Systemsrn Marketingrn Managementrn Public relationsrn Loans & Financern IT  Agriculture Eligibility- • Specialist officers who work in the loans department perform the duty of assessing and analyzing the capacity of the people who apply for loans. They sanction loans on the basis of the financial capacity of the loan takers to repay loans along with their past records. • Specialist officers with the engineering backgrounds are often recruited into the IT department in order to take care of the technology assets of the banks and other organizations. • Specialist officers from the agriculture background are hired as Agriculture officers who actually have to give loans to farmers. They regularly work on agricultural loans by helping people from rural areas every now and then. The candidates who are preferred for this post are desired to be with a background in agriculture, veterinary science and horticulture • For every particular post in a department, the specialization or the background of the candidate varies such as for public relations, for Marketing and for Management - MBA are taken, for Loans & Finance - B.Com, M.Com are taken, for IT - Engineers are taken, for System - Programmers are taken etc. 4. Manager/ Assistant Manager: Becoming a manager in a bank is considered as one of the toughest jobs to carry out. Whether public sector banks or private sector banks, both demand a lot of experience and expertise of the role. A branch manager is just like becoming a zonal manager who has to look after the different activities of the bank in all terms from loans to finance, marketing to promotion, public relations to supervision and all. So, a very responsible and dedicated individual with a lot of smart handling techniques is preferred over others.
