Edwardian conservatory or Victorian conservatory?
There is a huge range of different types of conservatories on the market When looking for a new conservatory, it can be confusing as there are so many different options and styles around. uPVC conservatories are the most common, due to uPVCs relatively easy manufacturing process and flexible form. This offers a great deal of shapes, of which the Victorian and Edwardian styles are two of the most popular in todays market.
A Victorian uPVC conservatory has a bay window appearance to it because of it's three or five sides. With it's pitched roof, it fits in to the style of many styles and sizes of houses and gardens. Given that the front face is rounded, its shape can work well in both large and smaller gardens or patio areas, where space might be a problem. It also works well in corners and its softer angles make it a great looking accessory to any garden, its classic lines enhancing the exterior of any home. The Victorian era is recognised as being very opulent, the conservatories reflect that with intricate details carved into it and ornamental ridges. Internally, the rounded front of the conservatory allows for excellent panoramic views of your garden.
Alternatively, Edwardian uPVC conservatories are square and flat in their design. While not as beautiful as it's Victorian counterpart, the Edwardian style lends itself more to usefulness. Without the many corners, it's much easier to use the space by placing pieces of furniture right in the corners, allowing for more floor space. It's for this reason that makes the Edwardian style more suitable to a small space or small garden, where you need to use as much space as possible.
The Victorian bay windows may be beautiful from the outside, but it can lead to dead space in view because of it's angles unless you place furniture in inconvenient places. Looking for another advantage of Edwardian conservatories? With them it doesn't feel like a conservatory, more like you have just added an extra room to your house.
A variant of the Edwardian design is what is known as a double-hipped conservatory. These structures are identical to the traditional Edwardian style, with the only difference being in the roof. Whereas a classic conservatory roof will incline toward the existing property face, meeting at its highest point, the double-hipped variant peaks in the centre, then slopes down again toward the rear and the existing wall (Creating a pyramid shape). This is practical with buildings with height restrictions or properties with upper level windows.
With both styles having their own distinct advantages, normally a decision is made based on the availability of space around the property.
For conservatories prices, you need to pick a supplier who is trustworthy and will suit your requirements exactly.
