Razor bumps are a common occurrence among men and women that take up the use of razor blades as a way to reduce bodily hair. The condition tends to discourage many from shaving since it results in skin breaking, itching, inflammation and a lot of discomforts. Razor bumps are caused when the hair or the skin become irritated during shaving. The skin may be scratched by a blunt razor causing some irritation or the hair may be curled back into the skin causing redness and inflammation. There are several good remedies for razor bumps, here are a few you should try out.

Apple Cider Vinegarr
Vinegar helps to soothe the skin irritation and also reduce the inflammation that accompanies razor bumps. It also coats any of the skin that gets damage preventing it from getting infected. For an effective remedy, mix some water and apple cider vinegar in equal proportions then wash the areas of the skin affected by the bumps with the solution. Rinse the skin again with some warm water then gently pat it dry. The solution can also be used to wet the skin before shaving and clean it after the shaving is complete as well.
Cold Compressr
The burning sensation that makes razor bumps irritable can be easily eradicated with a cold compress. A cold compress also helps with both the inflammation and the irritation on the skin. It helps the skin and the half broken hair follicles to relax and return them to their original state. You can either use ice cubes or some really cold water. Wrap the ice cubes in a handkerchief then lay it over the razor bumps for around fifteen minutes. The relief should be instant. You can also soak a cloth in cold water and lay it over the affected skin. The best thing about a cold compress is that it can be used for razor bumps on any part of the skin, including the bikini area.
Honeyr
Honey is a natural antibacterial agent. It also does a good job of soothing the skin, reducing the inflammation and redness. It works best if the honey used is natural. Simply apply some honey on the affected areas of the skin using your fingertips. Leave the honey on the skin till it dries up the rinse it off with some cold water. Pat the skin dry. This remedy can be used three times each day till the bumps are completely healed.

Cucumberr
Cucumbers are good for skin hydration, disinfection and reduction of the inflammation. It also helps the skin heal thanks to the high concentration of vitamins C and K. Slice the cucumber into rings then put them in the fridge to chill. After around thirty minutes, remove them and lay them over the areas of the skin affected by the razor bumps. This should be done for around ten minutes before they are turned over. The remedy provides instant relief. There is also a second option to blend the cucumbers into a paste the add some milk to it. Put this solution in the refrigerator to chill then apply it over the skin, focusing on the areas that have razor bumps. Rinse the skin off after fifteen minutes with warm water. This remedy should be done twice daily for maximum effect.

Baking Sodar
Baking soda coats the skin, reducing the irritation levels of the razor bumps. It also helps to relax the skin, reducing the inflammation and eradicating it with time. Add a tablespoon of baking soda into a cup of water and stir to form a smooth paste. Apply the paste over the razor bumps and allow the baking soda solution to dry. Rinse the skin with some cold water afterward taking care to wash all the baking soda away. The remedy tends to leave the skin dehydrated and dry, so you should apply a non-oil moisturizer after you are done.

Oatmeal
Oatmeal also coats the skin, reducing the irritation of the razor bumps. It also acts on the redness and inflammation. The addition of yogurt to the remedy, more so the plain yogurt, provides the skin with the necessary nutrients to repair any damages it may have incurred. Mix equal proportions of oatmeal powder and yogurt in a bowl. Add some honey and stir to make the paste smooth. Apply this over the areas affected by the razor bumps and leave it on the skin for half an hour. Rinse the skin with some warm water and pat it dry. The remedy should be sued twice daily, and the bumps should have subsided significantly by the third day.
Prevention Tips to Try Out
Since prevention has always been better than cure, here are a few tips that you can use to avoid having to endure the irritation of razor bumps.
• Always wet the skin for about three minutes before you start shaving. This means that it is best to shave after a shower and not before.
• Apply warm and soapy water to the skin a few minutes before you shave so as to relax the skin and hair follicles.
• Always try your best to shave with the grain and not against it.
• Change your disposable razors once each week. Using a blunt razor causes shaving on the same area more than once, something that aggravates the skin causing it to break.
• Use high-quality shaving cream and remember to moisturize after you finish shaving.
