rnThere are a lot of effects associated with smoking cessation which is another way of saying quitting smoking. Normally many people find that these effects are the main barrier to actually kicking the smoking habit once and for all. Many just cannot stand the effect that quitting smoking has on them and consequently give up, but the effects of not quitting smoking are much more damaging in the long run. Basically if you started smoking in the first place you must man up and either go through the grueling period where you will experience the effects of quitting smoking, or you can continue smoking and die earlier than you otherwise would’ve done and in many circumstances you would have to die and slow and agonizing death. There are methods you can use that will take the sting out of the effects of quitting smoking and you can read about these methods of quitting smoking here. In this article we will focus on some of the most common effects of quitting smoking. One effect of quitting smoking which happens in nearly all cases of people who have been smoking for long periods of time is anxiety. You will experience bouts of anxiety when you quit smoking because, nicotine, which is the addictive substance in the cigarette attaches to your brain receptors and consequently whenever you smoke it evokes pleasurable feelings. When you do not smoke however the opposite happens and this is what often makes the first few weeks virtually unbearable for people who want to quit. You can experience this anxiety for up to 5 weeks after you quit smoking and it is usually pretty severe in the first, third and fourth week of smoking. Another common effect of quitting smoking is insomnia. This occurs especially for people who smoke so much that when they wake up in the middle of the night they usually have a smoke right there. This insomnia will eventually infect other parts of your life because you will end up not getting a good night’s sleep or not even sleeping at all. You may well end up drained during the day, but again thankfully this only lasts for about 6 weeks. In order to reduce the effects of quitting smoking you can take a look at some of the various methods people use to help them quit smoking here. Like I mentioned before, you started smoking yourself and now you have to face the effects of quitting smoking if you ever want to regain your health back and your freedom as well. Also your wallet will thank you for going through the pain barrier as it will be much fatter than it previously was.
