There are good reasons to meditate, pray or contemplate. And quite a few lame reasons not to, which EFT can tackle. Let’s explore both. nnOn a recent talk show, three scientists were each reporting on their studies of the brain using advanced scanning technologies. All three reported stable brainwave patterns in people who meditate, and all three believed that these stable patterns are so significant to your health that the single most important thing you can do for your health is to meditate.nnRhonda Byrne, author of The Secret, states that, to the person, everyone she interviewed in her book and movie meditates daily. Law of Attraction guru Mike Dooley tells us that a day’s worth of negative thoughts can be negated with 10 minutes of meditation. Christine Comaford-Lynch, multimillionaire entrepreneur, says in her book, Rules for Renegades, “The vast majority of my business and technological innovations, company ideas, marketing plans, and life insights come from the clarity I get when I stop my barrage of thoughts [in meditation].” nnOf course, the primary reason most people meditate is to become more connected with being - or a greater being, such as their Higher Self, the Universe, or God. nnMany of us know that we should meditate. It may have been one of our New Year’s resolutions. But life just seems to get in the way. When we do make the time, squeezing it in before work or after dropping the kids at soccer practice, it’s easier to become distracted with thoughts about what we have to do, what the boss said at the meeting last week, and what we saw in the media than to stay connected with the Universe.nnEFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques, can be a big help in clearing the distractions that keep you from meditating. This article will assume that you have a rudimentary understanding of EFT and its use. For example, physical discomfort may be a big one. nnEven though my legs get restless when I try to meditate...nnEven though my back never quite gets comfortable...nnEven though as soon as I sit down my stomach starts to growl...nnnWe can use EFT to settle the mind when we first start.nnEven though I can’t stop thinking about work...nnEven though I keep getting distracted by noises in the other room...nnEven though I fall asleep...nnEven though I think about all the things I have to do... nn nMost importantly, we can use EFT to help us get over some of the emotional barriers to meditation success. nnEven though I am afraid when it feels like I’m dying...nnEven though I feel like I’m not worthy to ___________...nnEven though I get angry when I lose the feeling of ________...nnEven though I get frustrated when I can’t achieve _________...nnnTapping on these issues can be done during your meditation exercise or anytime after or before.nnThere are many ways to meditate, pray or contemplate, even for any given individual.
