Eid al Fitr: Concept and Blessings

rnEid-ul-Fitr is a religious festival in the Islamic world that marks the end of the month of Ramadan and is celebrated every year on the first of Shawal with great zeal and enthusiasm. The word Eid derived from "Oud," which means: "Return," Eid returns every year. "Fitr" means: "Breaking or ending the fast." The fast ends on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. On this day, Allah Almighty rewards Muslims for fasting and worship of Ramadan, so this day declared as Eid-ul-Fitr. Before the migration to Madinah, the people of Yasrib used to perform two eids, in which they would engage in games and commit misguidance. Instead of celebrating those two days of daur e Jahaliat, Hazrat Muhammad PBUH commanded worship, almsgiving, and sacrifice and rejoicing within the limits of shariah during these two Eids, Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha. When the day of Eid of Muslims, Eid-ul-Fitr comes, Allah Almighty is proud of worshippers before the angels, O my angels! What is the reward for a worshipper who completes his duty? The angels say: His reward should be given a full. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): O angels! My servants have done their duty, and then they have come out (in the form of Eid prayers) for dua '. Allah says: I swear by my honor and glory, my grace and my high rank! I will accept them all prayers. Then he says, I have forgiven you and turned your sins into good deeds. Eid prayers are obligatory in two Rakats; Three takbirs are sunnah in the first Rakat after Sana and after the recitation of Surah in the second Rakat. The sermon after Eid-ul-Fitr is Sunnah. It is Sunnah to eat dates in odd numbers before Eid prayers as well as to take a bath, use perfume, and wear neat clothes on the day of Eid. Adhan for Eid prayers is not Sunnah. It is debarred to fast on the day of Eid al-Fitr. The Prophet PBUH made Sadaqah al-Fitr obligatory so that fasting may be purified from unintentional nonsense and absurdity while Ramadan, and food may be provided for the poor. rnThe purpose of Sadaq fitr is the same that poor and needy people can buy food and clothes for Eid. Eid-ul-Fitr is the most important day of our life, and it comes once in a year, so we should try to spend this blessed day in obedience to God's commandments, free from misdeeds. One should try to spend maximum for family and also share food and money to those who can not afford it to make their eid day memorable. In general, the rituals of Eid include Muslims saying "Eid Mubarak" to each other and not only meeting each other warmly but also embracing each other, greeting relatives and friends. Besides, older children and young people wear new clothes and express happiness, invite each other, cook a variety of food and hold fair stalls in various places, often in the local language and there is also an element of regional culture.
