In the modern competitive times, health care practitioners find it increasingly important to have an effective marketing plan in place. Even if you are the best in your field, you need a healthcare marketing plan to boost your practice and acquire the much needed brand image and staff loyalty. When you think of a healthcare marketing plan, you cannot go for random ideas or trial and error experiments because it is not only about your business and money but also your reputation. You need to chalk out a plan that will help you achieve your business goals within a specified duration. An efficient healthcare marketing plan is the one which improves your business and image by attracting potential patients and retaining existing ones. You should also be able to put in place the necessary support system to carry out the plan properly. First you need to specify your objectives or targets. Gathering as much information as possible about your patients- existing and prospective, is important. Consider their location, education, age group, lifestyle, level of knowledge and then decide what you need to do to connect better with them. This will also give you an idea of how you can best utilize your resources to enhance your practice. Check how your services and products can benefit your target market. Project the tangible as well as intangible benefits the customers will realize from your services. Showcase the life improving benefits of your products. Also pay attention to your competitors. Prepare your strategies to stay a step ahead of them instead of reacting to what they do. Do a research on their promotional activities covering the internet and other media like TV, print ads, yellow pages and also word of mouth. This will help you plan better. Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses. Your strength could be your expertise, a special procedure or even the location of your clinic. Analyzing your weaknesses will help you improve in the areas where you are behind your competitors. Take remedial steps and make sure not to repeat the same mistakes again. To achieve your goals you will need to devise strategies and implement certain tactics. You can have regular training sessions for your staff or have regular staff meetings to improve the trust and loyalty quotient, which will reflect on your patients also. Carry out patient surveys to find out how your patients rate you, your clinic and your staff. There might be some new residents in your locality. Connect with them with the help of ads and emails. Use the internet as a marketing tool and set up an informative website, complete with patients’ success stories. Make sure you have established proper budget to take care of the marketing tactics that you need to implement. Also you should have enough human resources to carry out your plans as well track the success of these plans and implement changes if needed. Even the best healthcare marketing plan can turn out to be a disaster if not implemented properly.
