One of the few beneficiaries of the downturn in the economy is local musicians. With disposable incomes lower than ever—and tickets to the top acts in the music industry as expensive as ever—people who want to see live acts and hear live music are increasingly turning to local musicians. This is a win-win for everyone involved—patrons get the entertainment they desire at a more affordable price and the musicians get the wider audience they crave. But promoting concerts remains a challenge for the artists. How can they get the word out to fans who are accustomed to being besieged by concert advertisements in the newspaper and on the radio and television? The answer is an email marketing campaign for local musicians! Any news a band shares with its fans can only build the personal connection and make it more likely these fans will return to future shows! The best thing about the local musicians’ marketing campaign is how little time it takes to begin and how little time it takes to manage it once it is up and running. A band member can handle it himself with just a little training, or it can be “outsourced” for a minimal fee. These local musicians’ marketing campaigns can help bands keep track of their audience and measure their growth, all in a very cost-effective way.
