These files, having not been moved to the Deleted Items folder first (using the delete button, obviously), cannot be recovered from the same. In the second, you are using an Internet Message Access Protocol 4 client, which in fact, does not move files to a Deleted Items folder first. Microsoft claims that if your Exchange Server is configured to keep deleted items, you can restore them with a bit of tweaking in the registry or using ‘Fix this problem’ button. You will need an Exchange Server account though, 2000, 2003, or 2007, for the former, and the latter apparently is some recovery wizard that comes bundled in the 2002,3,7 versions of MS Outlook. If however, you’re running older versions, you will need to make Registry value changes, which is basically going into the computer’s hard drive to restore .pst files. These are file extensions, also called filename extensions, and indicate the file format. It seems that not just accidental deletion, but conflicting programs can also make these files inaccessible. What typically happens with hard deleted emails is that, like in deleted disk space, they’re marked as free space. This means that the first thing to do when having lost an Outlook file is to run the Inbox repair tool. There are download links for each Outlook version on the Microsoft computer support site. It’s called Fixit. It’s not clear how you do it manually. Locating and running the Scanpst.exe file, possibly through an application window for the download, or just by double-clicking them. The Program Files > Microsoft Office > Outlook folder is supposed to contain these. It’s not too different for Outlook Express. Although the two applications are vastly different, they are often taken to mean the same thing due to their familiar interface. Windows Live Mail, standalone software on Windows 7, is the running version of Outlook Express. The email service provider, Hotmail, is part of the Windows Live, along with SkyDive (for mobile), Messenger, and Essentials.
