Warning: This week’s article is only loosely connected to your weight or to detoxing. But I will give you a delicious recipe at the end! Have you ever had one of those rebellious weeks where all you want to do is look out the window? Or ring every friend you have? Or spend hours connecting with people you hardly know on twitter or facebook? I’m just coming off one of those weeks (well, actually an entire fortnight) right now. My distraction was (oh, I am so embarrassed admitting this to you!), tThe Kristen Stewart-Rupert Sanders debacle..itself a tale of rebellion. Those of you who know me well, know exactly why my fascination with this is so odd: I don't a television, don’t go to movies, dislike celebrity, and am not particularly fascinated with vampires or Snow White. Further, I feel the entire mess is none of my damn business. But still, every day for almost two weeks I checked in with various gossip sites to get caught up. Were there any new photos? Any new statements from anyone? I've given this funny mini-addiction some thought and I think it boils down to passion: in so many pictures of Kristen Stewart and her wronged boyfriend, Robert Pattison, I see beautiful, deep, it’s-just-you-and-me-baby, passion. Focused, intense, and so gorgeous. Nothing excites me like passion. So in periods where I can’t find my own, I look for it in others. Even if the others' passion is messy and broken and being played out in front of millions of people. That sounds deep and insightful, doesn’t it? I wish I could say I came up with these deep thoughts, but I didn’t. They came straight from the fearless, strong, intuitive women in my spiritual mastermind group. These women have known me for years. They know my family situation, the projects I am working on, my dreams, my fears, my drives…in short, just about everything. And because of that, they knew this Robsten thing was most unusual for me. After listening to my plight, one thing kept coming up: Stop absorbing others' passions. It’s time to take a break from my crowded schedule, look up, and dive into a source of passion all my own. Duh! Lesson learned. I quickly found a few ways to sneak things I love back into my days: wandering the East Village, running around the United Nations in the morning, spending time with my School of Womanly Arts friends, having more alone time with hubby and hanging out in farmer’s markets. And what do you know? My fascination with KStew and her boy quickly ebbed. (That said, I don’t think the two will get back together. Do you?) So, dear friend, how about you? Is passion missing from your life? Don’t tell me you’re too busy to enjoy yourself. Because I can tell you from experience: If you ignore what you love, it will find a way—even a strange, random, embarrassing way—to get your attention. rnLive what you love. Your life will be so much easier. And dare I say, even healthier. If you’d like to chat more about that, jump on my facebook page or dial into my Saturday radio show and we can have a fantastic chat about finding health in your passions! One of my favorite subjects!
