One of the major issues which bring communities together in the 21st century is carbon emission and using renewable resources to make our planet safe for our children’s future. We are all aware of the damage which could be done if we continue using energy as we are now and many communities have taken up the mantle to ensure the message is promoted across all neighbourhoods. But it is not just the green issues.
Currently the government drive to tackle a third of the United Kingdoms carbon emissions from housing by 2050, has lead to a drive to reward everyone cutting down on energy wastage. By 2020 seven million homes will have upgraded to significantly improve the energy performance. Home owners, communities, businesses, and organisations involved in the housing industry. This means that all new housing being built will be specifically constructed to include resources which reduce energy or designs to facilitate the use of them.
Traditional methods reduce energy consumptio
But it is more than just renewable resources. There are many ways to ensure energy efficiency and some of these methods have been staring us in the face for years. This new push for people to make energy efficient improvements will stimulate the green home improvement industry as many institutions as well as the government urge people to invest in double glazing, insulation and other means of saving money, energy and emissions.
RICS (The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) have recommended improvements such as upgrading your boiler, installing cavity wall and loft insulation, upgrading your windows to double glazing. They also pointed out that homeowners who have invested in double glazing should check the seals on their windows to ensure they are still working at an optimum level.
Double glazing benefits at both ends of the proccess
Many double glazing manufacturers are taking on board the need to keep to strict recycling and green energy policies. Responsible double glazing companies who install and manufacture double-glazed windows use ultra modern machinery when manufacturing their consumer products to ensure there is as little waste as possible. They are also aware that they help the green economy by using PVCu. This material, as well as being perfect for double glazed windows and doors are excellent for recycling purposes and obviously have a reduced environmental effect than if timber products were used.
Wise manufacturers are also learning that it is not just about the new product they are bringing to the home. There is also a responsibility on manufacturers to recycle any windows, and doors, and glass that is being taken away from the home – subsequently reducing landfill.
