Phrases such as “feeling blue” or “green with envy” have become a part of popular culture though many people don't often stop to think about how they came into being. The fact is, color has been shaping moods for centuries and thanks to recent developments we know more about the science of color now than ever before. Color science, often called chromatics, has been practiced in civilizations since the times of the ancient Egyptians. As people have experimented with colors so, too, has science. Some colors, such as purple, became associated with the rich or royalty due to the complicated process of dyeing while others, such as blue, have been associated with calm because of the observable effects it has on the viewer. If you want to enhance your mood naturally and without stimulants or chemicals, color therapy is something well worth looking into. Filtering the light you allow into your home through colored tinting film is a great way to enhance and regulate the mood throughout your home. Different colors can be used in specific areas of your home depending on the overall mood you want to encourage. For living rooms a warm color that invokes feelings of peace and harmony are your best bet. These colors include almost anything from the pastel family but specifically blue, yellow and green can bring on feeling of renewal, harmony and peacefulness. For home offices, red and other warm colors have been noted to inspire creativity and ambition. For the kitchen a light an airy color such as lemon yellow or a very light blue can add a feeling of cleanliness and purity to the entire room. A great way to see how colors can be effectively used in a real world setting is to begin taking note of color schemes at various retail and service industries. Spas and salons for example often use a combination of warm and cool colors to evoke feelings of serenity and relaxation in areas where massages or manicures happen. Restaurants use stimulating and comforting brighter colors from the warm (reds) and earthy (green) families to stimulate the appetite and soothe diners. Once you begin to take note of colors used in retail shops, restaurants, spas and other commercial outlets you will see a pattern in no time. Take note of these patterns and then decide which areas of your home you'd like to encourage the same kinds of feelings. Once you have a general idea of what emotional flow you'd like for your home, investigate window tinting options. Plain color dyed window tints are relatively inexpensive and can often pay for themselves since they work to reduce both heating and cooling costs while giving you the filtered light you want. Window tint film comes in a wide array of colors and even patterns if you want to incorporate a few different colors into a single room. Working with a professional will help you decide which rooms may benefit most if you're on a budget. So take a cue from ancient civilizations and modern scientists and consider color therapy as a way to enhance your mood and inspire your creativity.
