“Can I trade this job for what's behind door #2?”

Tension, overwork and sleepless nights are all part of the work-life phenomenon and managers are used to seeing the symptoms in their employees – bleary eyes, heads on desks, delayed registering and the like. However, these factors could actually be cause for bloopers. If you’re a medical transcriptionist, you would know that the possibilities are infinite for misinterpretations and bloopers. Here are some examples from the net. You’ll laugh your heart out reading them:

“He describes the ear pain as being in the ear”

The patient complains of low back pain. She is able to move all of her legs.”

Exam of genitalia reveals that he is circus sized”

Discharge status: Alive but without permission.”

“The patient has been depressed since she began seeing me in 1993”

Sleep Texting in the Extreme

Sleep texting seems to be on the rise now, with more and more people sending text messages and emails when they are apparently asleep. Experts attribute sleep texting to tremendous stress. But sleep texting does have its own humorous side. Imagine your employees sending out senseless incoherent babblings or maybe even tough language unknowingly to you in the middle of the night. Surely you wouldn’t tell them:

“Those were beautiful messages. Keep them coming”

So, why let work related pressure get to your employees? Outsource the transcription part and you don’t have to worry about these issues. Your employees too have a life, right?

Work is Work, Rest is Rest

Says a representative of Outsource Strategies International (OSI), one of the nation’s leaders in all kinds of transcription services, “Work is work, rest is rest. You wouldn’t want to reach a stage where your employee starts sending out pages of transcription to his best friend, would you? So let us help you. You wouldn’t be losing in any way by outsourcing. You would actually be reducing your transcription expenses by as much as 30 percent or more when you outsource to us. Also because we always have staff on hand to work on urgent and volume projects, there’s hardly a question of errors creeping into the transcripts.”

Outsourcing is Really Beneficial

This article isn’t to promote outsourcing. It’s humorously making you aware of the fact that your employees need to really shut off when they’re supposed to. But surely, as the OSI representative said, outsourcing isn’t a bad idea. Here are some of the other benefits apart from accuracy and affordability:

  • Exceptional Capability and Lots of Experience – A transcription company would have accumulated lots of experience and skill from working with different clients and from meeting different types of challenges. An in-house team would require many hours of training and experience to achieve that level of proficiency.
  • Continuity and Effective Handling of Risks – If your company has its phases of high employee turnover, inconsistency and indecision can result. Outsourcing would provide you with a level of continuity and limit risks.
  • Better Patient and Employee Satisfaction – Relieved of part of the documentation work, your employees can work on other core tasks. The lightened workload would surely keep them happy. Moreover, you can focus on patient care that in turn will bring you more satisfied patients.
