Erectile Dysfunction is the frequent or consistent inability to get an erection or to sustain it. While most men suffer this occasionally, time to time, it isn’t a cause for concern. But if this phenomenon is occurring on a regular basis then you might want to get it checked. Most people consider it an embarrassment and not a point of concern and they couldn’t be more wrong. This is a legitimate health issue and it is easily treatable. Persistent trouble of getting an erection, trouble keeping an erection and a decrease in sexual desire are the common symptoms of this disorder. Causes There are a number of things that can cause an erectile dysfunction, some of the primary causes are: Circulatory problems: Blood circulation is the primary reason for an erection and when that gets disturbed it hinders the process. The likes of diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol and atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) can cause circulatory problems that lead to erectile dysfunction. Surgery: Surgery in the pelvis region or sometimes prostate surgery due to prostate cancer can damage the nerves and arteries in that region that affects the blood flow and disrupt the natural process. Peyronie’s disease: Due to this disease fibres and plaques appear in the genitals and interrupt with the blood flow. Injuries: Injury to the spinal cord or the pelvic region can damage the nerves that stimulate the erection. Depression: This is a very common cause of erectile dysfunction. Depression can be either a physical or a psychological problem. Alcohol: Chronic alcoholism can cause this problem, even if one hasn’t consumed any alcohol during sex. Smoking: Cigarette smoking causes blood vessel constriction which leads to the decrease in the blood flow and as a result erectile dysfunction. Our brain plays a key role in this process and a number of things can interfere with this feeling. Here are some psychological factors that worsen the case of erectile dysfunction. Performance anxiety is a very common factor here. Most men worry about their performance which can cause this. But if this happens often then anticipation of sex will trigger a nervous reaction that will prevent an erection. Troubled relationship or sexual abuse can disturb a person’s natural process. Treatments  There are different kinds of treatment available today to treat erectile dysfunction. Medicines can help to resolve this issue instantly. Erectile Dysfunctional Treatment Medicine are readily available in pharmacies and online. Surgeries can also help to some extent; it can remove the blockages from the arteries and maintain the flow of blood. Now, if you don’t like to take medicines or have reservations against surgeries then exercises can help you too. A little jog or a brisk walk along with some exercises to strengthening the pelvic region can help in the long term. Erectile dysfunction is very common among men, be it an occasional problem or a more serious one. But there is no reason to be ashamed or consider yourself any less due to it and keep it locked up. Consulting a doctor and proper treatment can cure this in no time so there is no need to worry.
